This is a beautiful little spot, we were blessed with a impromptu bagpipe concert the third day in a row that we came. If you were hoping for a history of the area, it is more of a history of ecological developers of the area. I was hoping more for the pioneers of the area.

Beautiful pit stop for a photo. We didn't visit the museum.

Did not experience the museum, but the foot bridge is iconic, beautiful, and picturesque.

This is one of many gems on the "quiet side" of Mount Desert that is really worth consideration when planning a trip to the Acadia region.

Stop in and visit Somesville and Southwest Harbor and get a bit off the beaten path.

Behind the library there is a tiny damn. Very Rocky during low tied, and during high tied the rocks are covered and it becomes all about the water view. Both tides are beautiful. If you are staying around look at both tides. The white bridge across the street is surrounded by a beautiful garden area and is a place where I like to take pictures of family members when they are in town. thanks

As you drive by, you can't help but notice the bridge over the pond, as well as the gardens.

Beautiful little museum, self-guided, with attendant if questions arise. Picturesque bridge (à la Monet's waterlily paintings) that lead to another building (chapel? I didn't go there). Late Summer visit and the gardens were lovely.

A must stop on MDI. Great photo opp, with the iconic bridge. Nice place to just admire the garden and butterflies, or watch the minnows swimming around, take in the quietness.

Here in Autumn, the chrysanthemums and ornamental kale along with the beautiful gold and red leaves floating in the pond, made this and most memorable stop. Take your time and enjoy the museum, Pier into the windows and imagine life in the 1700s.
