The walking trail next to the visitors center is an easy trail that loops back to the other side of the visitors center. There is two small bridges you walk across that cover small creeks. They have picnic shelters as well by the lake. Overall a nice walk.

Top to bottom, one of my favorite state parks I’ve been to. Drove from Virginia to see the solar eclipse and this place holds up with all the top parks I’ve been to there. All of the staff was super kind and helpful, especially on a Monday where they were probably well past their normal number of guests. If you’re ever just traveling the I-64 corridor and want to find what I’d call a true hidden gem, check this place out. Only about 20 or so minutes off the interstate.

I have never seen this many mosquitoes at an Illinois state park. Most of them hung out in the fire lanes, but the north side of Coffee Creek was especially bad. There's a nice little waterfall and overhang on the Sweet Gum trail though.

Park is large and clean. They keep it well maintained. There are picnic tables and grills throughout the park. Two large playgrounds with nice equipment. There are large pavilions with multiple picnic tables near each playground. The lake is stocked and fishing is good. The moss is cleaned out and fishing is easy from the bank. I caught 5 bluegill in less than an hour.

Lovely setting for the totality. Plenty of picnic tables, informative visitor center. Remote enough but still very accessible. QUIET (except for birds).

Just hiked the White Oak trail. Loved the view of the creek merging into the river.

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds in Illinois. Very spacious, quiet, peaceful, and restful. Water is available, as well as a dump station for RVs, but be aware that there are no electrical hookups. Super friendly staff in an idyllic setting. Pit toilets only.

A group of friends camped there last weekend. Mary Holtzclaw, who works in the interpretive center, gave us a brief talk on the history of the park. She did an excellent job, and conveyed her love of the park and what a treasure it is. We are all blessed that so many people have worked over the years to preserve this land for us and future generations!

Absolutely beautiful park. Nice lake, awesome trails, very clean and well kept! Great signage. Stocked trout (Spring/Fall) is an added bonus! Great picnic areas, grills, playground for the youth, typical state park restrooms -- but clean!

We are very blessed to have a State Park so close to us. Spent a lot of time there as a youth and still love to walk the trails, fish and see the wildlife.

Wonderful State Park. Nice place to fish, the trails are well maintained. The camping is awesome. Now if we can get them to turn half the site's into electrical site's,we would be glamping.

Grew up in Keensburg. So many of us kids would bicycle there everyday. In the 70s many kids working there. Beautiful and I miss it tremendously. As a previous poster stated, the lake is smelly. It did back in the early day. It needs a fountain installed to move water, but that requires money. Is the old red barn still there?
