Historic L. B. Brown House Museum

I personally love viewing the beautiful, creative and amazing architecture and of L. B. Brown house built so many years ago. He was ahead of the time mastering so many wonderful characteristics for his family to enjoy.

Do yourself a favor and make an appointment for a guided tour by Clifton Lewis of this amazing historic home. Mr Lewis, who runs the non-profit that manages the home, shares so much knowledge and enthusiasm about the freed slave who built this home in the late 1800s. Our tour lasted about 40 minutes and we enjoyed every minute of it.

Looks can be deceiving so don't pass up this gem. You schedule a personal private tour and it is amazing inside. Our guide Clifford is an amazing guide and person. If you like learning about history this is a good one.

This historical museum was very informative to me and my children. We enjoyed everything about this historical site, including the festival.

We found this beautiful gem of a museum by just driving around downtown Bartow yesterday. Mr. Clifton and Mrs. Patricia were so inviting and informative. What an inspiration Mr. Brown is....from being born in slavery to successful business man. They were so kind, especially with our kids. Taught them how to pump water from the ground and also showed them an old water well. We enjoyed it immensely. Congratulations to their organization that preserved the history of this great man.

The history of L. B. Brown is a story that would Inspire everyone. It was almost lost in history if not for mr. Lewis and others. What a wonderful home of Polk County. Everyone needs to visit.

I called them a few days before we visited the town of Bartow to see if they were going to be open the day we were going to visit. They opened just for us and gave us a private tour. It was the highlight of our day trip!!! I highly recommend visiting this historic home!!! It is so well kept and the people were so welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly!!! We will definitely be going back to visit!!!

Very interesting and informative tour. My husband is from the area and had no idea of the house and its history. The house has been beautifully restored. I would recommend this tour to everyone,

We visited this home a few days ago and had a great tour given to us by Clifton Lewis. We learned many things about the family that lived there and the great man who built it and all about him and his family. It was a very in depth tour given by a man who actually knew this family and could tell us about all the family members in this home and the many items in the home that were owned and used by the family. It was a very interesting tour given by this interesting man. That same day if the tour we went to a book signing at the book store in Bartow where the author of the new book was there and signed our book for us and Clifton Lewis was there with him, and also gave him a lot of information for the book and took part in the information gathering and writing a piece in the forward if the book, as well as giving the house tours of this home. He was very good at answering any questions we had and really made this tour memorable because of all the knowledge he had first hand of this family. I recommend getting this new book because the author did a great job in collecting all the information and pictures for this book which made it a great read. This is really worth seeing and it takes you back to see just how people lived back then and how different it is now. Don’t forget to donate at the end if your tour so this house can continue to keep this piece of history alive for others to see.

Great history...Beautiful well kept house. Thank you Mr. Lewis for sharing the history of Mr. L.B. Brown. An inspirational true story especially for young children of a man who started out with nothing and accomplish so much in his life. Perfect example of where there's a will, there's a way...Visited twice...My grand daughter loved it. I will be back soon with my other grandchildren.
