We truly loved staying New Year’s Eve in The Old Jail! What a unique and fascinating place! Mike could not have been nicer and was so prompt getting in touch with us/ meeting us upon arrival. The Old Jail Hotel was tastefully decorated for Christmas and everything was super clean, organized and very comfortable. Restaurants and shops were just a block away and we enjoyed watching the ball drop! Waking up with a mug of hot coffee and seeing snowfall on the mountain tops was truly special. A very fun and unique experience we can’t wait to repeat!

I highly recommend booking a room at the Old Jail! We stayed 3 nights over Christmas and loved it. The decorations matched the ambiance. Mike, the owner, super friendly and easy to work with. The renovations were well documented and pictures show the details! Plenty of kitchen items to prepare your own food or walk to one of the local restaurants. Nice security features with code locks on all the sleeping rooms and front door. At 60° in December, we even had coffee out on the enclosed back porch! There is a cute sitting room with game boards and books on the history of Tazewell and also a nice sized meeting room. We will definitely stay again!

Great spot right off Main Street with several restaurants to select from. Rooms were spacious and cozy. Owners go above and beyond to meet your needs. Definitely stay there if in the area again.

My husband and I stayed while in town for my high school reunion. Mike, the owner, is super accommodating, meeting us as we arrived in town. He gives a great little tour with the history of the property that I loved. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The property has several common areas that are perfect for gathering or relaxing outside of your room. There is a full kitchen with everything you would need to cook or simply prepare a cup of coffee. The location can't be beat, especially for reaching any business or restaurant on Main Street. We greatly enjoyed our stay, and will definitely return in the future!

We stayed at The Old Jail during Christmas this year and it was an excellent experience. The Old Jail has everything you need for a most comfortable stay, nice clean rooms, a great kitchen for your needs there. Great coffee is provided along with anything you need to host guests. You should definitely consider The Old Jail if you are needing accommodations in Tazewell.

Lovely! In the past, we've stayed at big chain hotels outside of town, but we were looking for something smaller and more personal for this trip. I'm so glad we found the Old Jail LLC--no more chain hotels for us. The owners were kind, flexible, and responsive and the accommodations felt like home. The kitchen was well stocked, and our bedroom and bath were clean and comfortable. The living room was just what we needed to gather for family time and decorated with old photos of the town. Next time I'm planning a trip to Tazewell, my first call will be to reserve my room at the Old Jail LLC.

I can not tell you enough how cool this place is. It was beautiful and historic, comfortable. It is cozy, walking distance to great food and drinks. My husband and I stayed there for just one night on a motorcycle trip to the back of the dragon, and will again.

Super nice, quaint, historical, and no doubt, THE best place to stay in Tazewell! The Old Jail LLC had everything we needed and nothing we didn't! Well furnished, very comfy bed, and great morning coffee! Walking distance to everything! What fun! Mike is the best host ever!

Highly recommend whole house for small group of travelers (motorcyclists, wedding party, etc). Overnight or a whole week! It has it all!

Stayed at The Old Jail during a family reunion. Had everything we needed. The room was comfortable and very clean. Loved having access to the kitchen and meeting room. Mike was a very nice and helpful host. Will definitely stay there again.

This was a Back of the Dragon motorcycle vacation. I was meeting another rider for the first time and expected to get there first. I ended up being delayed by hours. Mike the owner worked it out with my roommate and all went smooth. It's not a luxury hotel but it's transformed from it's previous use and retains the charm of it's past life. Everything looks new and very clean. It has a kitchen and a laundry , which was great because I got soaked in the rain and was able to throw wet riding clothes in the dryer for the next day. Rooms were comfortable and nicely appointed and had a great shower. There was parking for our truck, trailer and motorcycles. Restaurants and coffe shop within a 1 - 2 minute walk. Mike the owner is very laid back and friendly and very cool. This hotel and the town of Tazwell are very welcoming and accommodating of motorcycles. Don't hesitate to stay here.

Mike, the owner, set us up perfectly! We rented all 4 rooms, the hotel was spotless and a good mix of the old and new construction! The location is perfect for walking to restaurants and accessing all the challenging roads for riding our motorcycles! The rates are very reasonable and Mike was readily available for any questions I had. I highly recommend staying here it you’re are going to ride the Back of the Dragon or many of the other routes down in that area.

My wife and I stayed there over Memorial Day weekend. Very nice host/owner. Super neat and clean with a fantastic location. I left a valuable item there and din't realize it until we were at our next destination one day later. Mike the owner promptly sent it back to me and I had it three days later. Amazing honest guy and again, a super nice place to stay. Highly recommend!

Was in the Tazewell area for a quick trip with my sister to my soon to be DIL’s bridal shower. The Old Jail came highly recommended and did not disappoint! The beds were very comfortable, the sheets were crisp, and the bathroom was immaculate. There were others staying there as well but you would never have known it as it was perfectly quiet. The downstairs living area was comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed. The whole place had that old building warmth and charm and I will definitely be staying again on my next trip to the area!

My brother and I recently visited on a motorcycle trip. We loved the place. The owner was very accommodating. The location is perfect... Close to dining and drinking options we could walk to. We'd do it again!

My husband and I stumbled across this little gem while we decided to take a spontaneous one night trip. Mike, the proprietor/owner was very accommodating to our needs. He (Mike) is an awesome host and super nice guy! The place was/is very immaculate/clean. We had plenty of toiletries at our disposal. I really enjoyed my thirty minute soak in the original claw foot tub!, (Room 2). Thank you again, Mike, for your great hospitality! Until we see you again, God bless!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Old Jail in Tazewell VA. Perfect location to everything we wanted to see/do. The entire place was super clean, we had access to a full kitchen on the first floor and it was nice and quiet. Mike was an awesome host and made sure we had everything we needed. He took time to tell us the history about the Jail which was very interesting. We would definitely stay there again next time we are in the area. Carla & Eric

Had a nice visit at the Old Jail. Mike the owner was very helpful meeting us there and showing us around this unique vintage property. The room was very clean and comfortable, as was the common areas of the house. Be sure to visit the Painted Peak Brewery in town, good food and drink at a more than reasonable price. Left the next morning for a ride down the Back of the Dragon, very scenic this time of year.

Great place to stay with fabulous hosts. Very clean, with a full community kitchen if needed (coffee is included). Easy walking distance to a coffee shop and restaurants. If you are traveling through southwest Virginia this is a great place to stay.

Stayed here on October 22, 2022 after a bad experience at the Tazewell Motel. The Old Jail, LLC is high quality, extremely clean, and has an owner that went the extra mile to accommodate me as his guest. It's not just a place to sleep, it's an experience that you will enjoy. If I'm ever in the area again this is where I'll stay.

Outstanding service and understanding! In the last 60 days we have lost both of our parents. The Old Jail was very accommodating and went beyond what was expected to host us. They made sure we had everything we need to have friend and family together. The beds are very comfortable and the common areas had great memorabilia from the area that really helped us remember our father’s coal mining legacy. Highly recommend!!! They are very good people.
