Chocolay Bayou Nature Preserve

Shot trail only took about 30 mintes to walk, but we'll maintained with lots of informational signs of local birds and trees.

Small wooded wetland at the mouth of the Chocolay River. It's undergoing some updates so I think a trail map will be out soon. But current two trails are clearly marked, there are signs about local wildlife, and it connects to the Iron Ore Heritage Trail very easily. It was very quiet and perfect for watching songbirds today.

Fantastic little 10 acre parcel that was placed under permanent protection thanks to the hard work of the Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy. A great tract for an idyllic walk through robust natural habitats. Do it right and maybe you'll be lucky enough to encounter some of the abundant wildlife that gets untold value from this patch.

Beautiful place. We came across this place while hiking the heritage trail. Such beautiful country in and around the Marquette area.

Nice little preserve. Fun loop with a lookout and a wetland boardwalk.
