Governor's Rock Motel

This place was a nice surprise. It was clean and comfortable and the staff was terrific. If you like big time chain hotels, not the place. If you like a staff that will build you a fire to sit around in their front yard, this would be it. Nice stay-nice people.

I had an awesome experience here with my wife and my large grand dog (Golden Retriever). The room we had was spacious enough with a fantastic private patio, well groomed lawn and landscaping, plus they even let us build a fire in the fire pit which we all loved. Everyone was very responsive to my needs both pre-stay and during our stay. It was without a doubt, the highlight of my too short of a vacation. I’m going back again and again.

Absolutely loved my stay here while up in Manchester for 2 weeks in July 2021. The rooms are cute, cozy and very clean. The owners are so warm and welcoming and love the welcome basket in the rooms with all sorts of good snacks.

The owners have done a wonderful job of restoring this Motel which is both clean and comfortable. We stayed there last fall and again this week and both times we truly enjoyed our peaceful stay in their comfortable beds and all of the attractions that are minutes away. Great value and a great location that I recommend.

Needed a room for a local wedding. Quaint but very clean and well kept. New paint, cable TV and internet. Beautiful views.

What a great motel! We stopped at the Governor’s Rock Motel for a quick overnight stay en route to the Adirondacks. The room was very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed including bottles of water and snacks. The owner was so nice and happy to provide suggestions to us for things to do. The grounds are beautiful. We wish we could have stayed longer. We are looking forward to going back for a longer stay to enjoy this gem.

Ever see a bunch of great reviews and question if something is that good? I did, and was Glad they were all right. The owner was friendly, generous and accommodating. There really are little snack baskets in the room, decent shampoo, conditioner, lotion. There's a coffee maker, tv, fridge,microwave (I list it bc it's not always a given with motels). The location is very quiet, the nearest stores or restaurant are 10 min away in bennington. Bed was squeaky (not complaining it was comfy, just giving a full review). So, yeah if you are looking for a clean, decent place with all the neccasary amenities this place is awesome. They even have a fireplace out front. Would definitely stay again.

Great experience at Governor's Rock.

We were on a road trip and prebooked one night at this motel. We received a call around 830 asking about our arrival. Shelly said she'd be available as late as necessary. We arrived around 930, shortly after their office closed and Shelly was on site ready to check us in. The check in was a breeze. The room, while not state-of-the-art was clean and comfortable.

I'm used to staying at big box hotels when I travel, but it just wasn't in the cards. While we didn't have a huge LED tv, or free breakfast, it certainly made up for it in charm and coziness.

The only real thing the inn could use was a bit bigger shower. This thing is small, very small. I'm guessing something like 3' square. We accidentally left two sodas in our fridge, but it seemed like there was an electronic strike that locked us out the moment we shut the door.

I'm sure I'll never be back in this area again, but if I ever do, I will stay here again. If you're looking for no frills, no fuss motel that's clean and cozy, this is it. You won't be disappointed.

From the moment we arrived it was a wonderful experience. Was greeted by Sue and she was super nice and well versed in the surrounding area with tips and directions to get to the places she was telling us about. Had two incredible fires out back by the massive and impressive fire pit that was build by Ken who was outstanding as well. The two were very nice and accommodating the entire time. We hit it off so well that we remember most about our recent trip was the time spent with them and the stories that were shared. They supplied us with the best wood that Ken gathers every day for the cleanest burning fire you can get. They also supplied us with marshmallows for toasting which was nice too. Super friendly staff and Ken even got me some dried out clean wood for my rabbit to chew which was a plus. Would recommend anyone to stay in this discreet location. The star gazing was breath taking and we will sure miss the company the most! Give them a try and deal with Sue, she was amazing!

My husband and i have stayed here several times over the years when vacationing in Vt. He passed away 13 years ago and i hadn't been back. Well one of my daughters and myself went to Vt, for a little get away last year and we stayed here. The same people own the motel and i have gotten friendly with them and i was so glad to see they are still there. We had a good time as usual. The room was very clean and i like the way the owner fixes the room's, i have stayed in a few. :) I like the fact that each one is different. They all have an personal touch. I always have been very pleased. If i am ever up that way again i will most definitely stay here. Thank's for happy memories. Cute little motel. It's more of a cottage style apartment than a motel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating!

Such a nice and relaxing place! Just what we needed during our long trip! Friendly owner, quiet, clean, very comfortable bed. It's pretty old and tiny but taken a good care of. Not expensive at all, very reasonable price. Lots of space for dogs. Love this place inside and out! Unfortunately, there are not many places like this around the country (we travel a lot)

What a pleasant stay. Owners are very friendly and helpful.

Rooms are very clean and comfortable. If you come here ask for room no. 1. It has its own patio in the back, where temperature is lower than the one in the front. In the night you can se fire flies flying around behind the building, which was cool.

Only thing that needed an upgrade is the toilet paper. 1 layer toilet paper is not good. You use a lot more than normal and in the end nothing is saved if you compare the prices of toilet paper. So go at least for 2 layers and your customers from Denmark will give you 6 starts.

Great to finally stay at a motel/hotel that lives up to the task of helping the environment by not changing towels if customers hang them up after use. To many hotels advertise about it, but still changes towels every day, whatever you do.

Absolutely great, nice and neat place to stay that has been very well taken care of! Plenty of room for dogs at the back yard, lots of sitting spots outside. Very friendly management, always ready to help. Great (really!) food available at nearby restaurants.

Super nice owners, clean rooms & really comfortable beds! Beautiful country setting close to Bennington. We will be staying there again.

We were greeted with warm dry towels after a very wet motorcycle ride! They were very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were super clean and the beds were very comfortable.

Stayed here for just one night but can definitely recommend to others. The owners operate the front desk and they were amazing very thoughtful and an answered all my questions right away and were very available for anything I needed I would definitely recommend to everyone visiting Vermont in the Bennington area to stay here .

This is an older, charming, independent motel. It is clean and comfortable, and perfect for a place to relax after a busy day. Sitting areas in front and back. It sits far enough back from the road that it's quiet at night.
