Route 19 Cafe

Had breakfast here on a Sunday morning so the cafe was quite busy. The waitstaff was excellent and I received my order probably 3 minutes after ordering. I had the country fried steak and eggs. The food was hot and everything was cooked to perfection. Will absolutely be stopping back when traveling through Waterloo.

The food was amazing....I only had the salad but man it was full on flavors and the presentation was on point. The atmosphere was very clean, and nicely organized. The tables were cleaned twice before we ate, and the waitress was so nice and made sure she tooped us off with our coffee, which I couldn't get enough off. Not sure how this coffee is so good the but it is something I will come back for. My friend had the BLT which she said was by far the best yet. In my video the bread stick I ate had so much crunch yet softness inside and buttered to perfection. I will be going back and FYI ladies the bathrooms are so clean you would think your home. One more thing Tip your waitresses our bill was only $ 26.00 but I tipped her $10.00 which is nothing compared to the service we received.

I've eaten at Route 19 Cafe once for breakfast and once for their Friday fish fry and both meals were exceptional. The first thing I noticed was the inexpensive pre-covid pricing. Nearly every meal for breakfast and lunch was under $10 and it was delicious down home cooking. The Friday fish fry menu, though a little confusing and difficult to understand, was surprisingly robust. Offering cod, perch, catfish and shrimp I tried the combo platter which had perch and cod and I had some of my wife's Jumbo shrimp. The perch filet was nearly as large as the cod filet and all of the seafood was fried perfectly. The cole slaw was very good and the fish fry included either pudding or ice cream. Friendly service, updated interior, but beware only one free beverage refill. I highly recommend Route 19 Cafe for their down home meals at a very good price.

We will definitely need to stop here more often. Coffee here is awesome 👌great flavor. Had the steak and eggs, simply delicious.

And that is nice to see. We don't mind waiting if the food and the service are as good as we have experienced here.

Great little community-oriented place to eat. Owners came to America with a desire to have a successful restaurant like they had overseas. They put a lot of money into remodeling and other improvements. Then Covid hit.... But they hung in there and succeeded after much hard work and sacrifice. They are really good people. My daughter and my son were sharing an apartment, and the cafe owners were their neighbors. It was nice getting know them some.

A meal is a complete meal with a scoop of ice cream for dessert, and all of them are under $20. The soup was ch8cken noodles and it was so good I got a bowl to go. It was a very hearty broth with very thin noodles that looked home made. Waitress was great. Service was very good. My mom loved how much she had for leftovers and said she would eat there 7 days a week. She had the chicken with mushrooms onions and pepper covered In cheese.

Cozy and clean small town dining experience. The menu choices were extensive and our food was excellent! Reasonably priced and generous portions. Staff was friendly.

Stopped by for a quick bite on a Sunday afternoon, April 2023. It was excellent. The staff was just great -- friendly, easygoing, and efficient. Food was nicely prepared diner style food. We had a turkey bacon club, some cooked carrots, fries, and a dessert. They were all terrific. We would stop here again, for sure.

Stellar waitresses are very polite & caring! My omelets was delicious. We'll be there tomorrow for their fish dinner.

I've been here for many a good breakfast/lunch, but I finally tried the Friday Fish Fry. I had the three-piece fried cod. I like a lot of lemon with my fish, so I brought my own bottle of juice from home. The breading remained crisp even with all the juice I put on, and the fish was wonderful. The slaw was creamy and crunchy, the fries were great, and the veggie soup was delicious like always. I will most definitely return for the fish next Friday!

Friendly service, food came out fast and there was a lot of it for a good price. I had the catfish and it was super tasty. Will definitely be going again.

In town for our sons wrestling tournament. And stopped in for breakfast. So impressed with how fast we got our food. About 5 minutes after ordering our food cam out. Food came out hot and fresh! Clean bathrooms that smell amazing also! Well be back for sure!

Stopped in for lunch Friday, I had the shrimp dinner, the others had the fried fish.
Mine was very good, the rest of the group said the fish was great. If you go away hungry you missed something. We even had (included) ice cream.

Service and food were great! Definitely want to go back and try their other foods. Very laid-back type of atmosphere, and I absolutely loved it!

Fantastic! Denise, our awesome waitress, greeted us at the door with a warm friendly smile. Small diner but don't let that fool you, they have a HUGE menu. There is something for everyone. We had the Fish fry,; chose from baked or beer battered cod, comes with soup or salad, choice of potato, coleslaw, dinner roll, and desert. Our kid ordered the French toast with strawberries. scrambled eggs and hashbrowns. Food was excellent, service was prompt, friendly and I recommend Route 19 Cafe 100%. Look forward to coming back and trying something else on the menu. Thanks for making our first visit memorable.

Great Friday night fish fry. Get there before 5 pm. if you don't want to wait. Try the pletter. Cod, Perch, and Shrimp. Excellent!

Good food, great burgers and fair prices. Too bad their hours are limited. Definitely worth stopping by when open.
