Blue River Sand Barrens

There's a small dirt parking lot at the end of Wightman Road for the Natural Area. There is a dirt road that goes around the perimeter of the Barrens and heads toward the Wisconsin River but there are no other hiking trails. There are no facilities or places to get water so plan ahead if you want to hike around. The wild prickly pear cacti in Wisconsin are neat to see

Not as barren as you would think.

Beautiful Nature Conservation Area

Would've been great if we could've seen the sand barrens. Very poorly marked, not marked at all in fact. There was a couple signs but nothing said "sand barrens". You drive down this single land road; it looks like a private road, then you reach a gate, and then there's like one parking spot and it says you can't park anywhere or turn around anywhere. There was a car taking the sole parking spot so we left. Not sure what was beyond the gate but that's where Google maps left us. We drove backwards until we found a place to turnaround and left. Didn't see any sand, just trees and a farm.
