Trail-Side Inn

This was such a memorable stay for my mother and I on mother's day weekend 2024. The hospitality and kindness shown to us by owner Rick and his next door restaurant staff were the true jewels of the stay, we truly felt as if we were visiting longtime friends. Coupled with the clean room, beautiful countryside, and excellent biking on the elroy-sparta trail, we will never forget the experience. I wouldn't stay anywhere else if I was going to bike the trail as this location is likely considered midpoint and very near to the first tunnel. The first day we biked to Kendall and back, and the next day we biked to Sparta and back. We ate 4 delicious meals at the Schoolhouse restaurant next door. I promise if you stay here, you won't be disappointed. The Dorset Valley countryside is absolutely charming, picturesque, and humble.

New owner just took this over. Very clean and charming. You can get on the Elroy/Sparta bike trail through the backyard. It’s right on a farm, so there are a few animals to see. The restaurant cooks you breakfast, which is on an old school house right on the property. Many Amish farms around so it was fun to drive around the area.

This is an amazing place to stay. The owner is very friendly and the restaurant next door has the best food around. Prime rib Saturday night is the best.

There is so much room this inn. The Inn has 6 rooms, 1 down 5 upstairs. A huge functional kitchen and the schoolhouse restaurant is so close for dinner.

The room with the whirlpool tub was large and beautiful. Room was clean and the owner is amazing. Would definitely plan on going back and telling our friends and family.

Loved this place. Great food, friendly staff. Cute little gift store. Wheel chair accessible too. Will be back!
