Burgers here are best in town. Fresh, crunchy and the drinks are good. Large pichers of beer for great price. Ladies here work hard, but are super friendly. The locals love interacting with them and the atmosphere is fun.

Food was the perfect bar food. Burgers are delicious, staff is nice and attentive, lots of neighborhood characters. Don’t skip the fried pickles- they’re crispy and delicious.

This is it! The search for the perfect burger is freaking over! You cannot beat the seared in flavor of this phenomenal burger. Not much to say, this is for sure a burger you must experience for yourself. They also happen to have the best fried pickels I've ever eaten. Pickels are spear cut, battered and fried, served with horseradish or ranch. The breading stays on when you bite into and not greasy at all. Shipleys has amazing history and is located conveniently in a story book town that could be the background of any hallmark movie. I only have it 5 stars because 6 wasn't an option.

Stopped as we were passing through Madison. Walking to another place and saw sandwich sign in sidewalk down a side street. Decided to go here. Cheeseburgers are AWESOME. But beware… a large is a 1/2 pound. I could not get around all of mine. Should have gotten the smaller burger. Food was really good. Place was packed. But our food still came out in a reasonable time. Seems popular with locals. Beer was cold too!stop in. You won’t be disappointed.

This place is awesome if you are looking for a getaway for lunch/dinner with an at home diner type feel. I love going here. I try to go every time I'm working in Madison. Plus they have such I cool name... 😎 😌

If you love dive bars as much as I do, then this is the place for you! Great service, perfect atmosphere, cheap, strong drinks and great burgers! Be sure to ask for the Shipley sauce (it used to be kept on the tables but people kept stealing it!).

First time there with friends. The Shipley Burger with cheese and bacon is amazing. I will say the burger is a lot bigger than you think but so good. Margaritas were awesome as well. Bartenders and atmosphere were great. Highly recommend going in for lunch or dinner with friends.
