The Smoke Shop BBQ - East Boston

Being from the south, I know my BBQ, and this place did not fail! From first to last bite, mmmmmmm sounds all the way! Having a shellfish allergy makes eating at places difficult usually; however, they have an allergy guide to the menu and it made selecting my meal entrée simple and effortless. There were lots of options for me to choose from and dessert options were delicious. We selected different meats on our plate to try a larger variety. Everything was juicy, perfectly smoked and seasoned! I wish I was staying in Boston longer, this would definitely be a place I would come to more than once. Great place to watch the sunset as well.

Great Customer Service, Great Presentation. Very Clean, very attentive, very hospitable, AMAZING FOOD. Great IPA beer recommendation & I don’t like bitter beers so It’s good to find something I like in a different state. I would definitely come back if I am ever in the area Again. I am from NYC so the food was actually REALLY good.

Had a really good meal here after visiting Downeast Cider house (which I also HIGHLY recommend). Fantastic location (on the end of the pier looking back across at Boston - stunning at night) near Maverick T). Food was good, and ribs were hands down the best I’ve ever had - meaty, tender, and so delicious.

Right from the reception desk, the host and hostess were friendly, awesome welcoming smiles.
Our server Marie was happy, friendly, and attentive, without hovering. Extremely professional.

The Nashville Sliders were freaking fire, and I got the regs spice, so damn good. The extra step the big box hot-chicken shacks don’t do was: amazing slaw and pickles, thank you!

Attended a special event featuring a BBQ inspired vegan menu and wine tasting. The dishes were creative and delicious, the staff welcoming and wonderfully attentive, and the waterfront setting made it a great Boston destination. Plus the owner/chef spent some time chatting with the guests which made the night even more special- especially since it was a birthday gift for one of my friends! We all agreed it was one of our favorite dining experiences. Looking forward to more events like this.

My wife and I had the pleasure of eating here during their soft opening. The food was spectacular, we ordered the bbq chicken salad, a jalapeño link with pimento cheese, The Wings (honestly the best ever), and a jalapeño mock tail that will blow your mind! Pimento max and cheese is on point and even their cole slaw is incredible, just a touch of heat.

Loved the vibe inside the restaurant and on the patio outside (we got to sit in both but it was too hot so we went inside where it was nice and cool). Maria was our server and she was accommodating and took great care of us with our semi complicated order. Cooper was our host and he welcomed us like we lived there! He even gave us a complimentary bag of popcorn as a thank you :).

Smoke Shop is a must, if you haven’t been, go! Best bbq in Boston hands down.

Incredible food, the brisket and wings are especially awesome, quick service usually not too crowded and the best location you could ask for right on the water. Love everything about this place.

I was blown away by the food, service, and spectacular views at yesterday's vegan night at the East Boston location!!! Each dish was so thoughtfully, deliciously, and wholesomely crafted to exceed all expectations; the staff both on-site and behind the scenes take care of you as if you were their grandma (their actual motto), and you leave with a belly and soul full of happiness and love. I can't wait for the next vegan night!!

I booked this restaurant for a corporate event and was thrilled with the result! Everyone raved about the delicious the food and very kind, attentive staff. The cornbread and s'layer bars were firm favorites from the group as well as the burnt ends.

The staff were so helpful when bringing our vision to life and answering all questions throughout the booking and event process!

Everything was great - the service, the view of Boston, and especially the food! It's not easy to find good bbq in New England, but The Smoke Shop was delicious. The brisket, pulled pork, and ribs were all excellent, and the side dishes clearly NOT just an afterthought. The wings are a must-try...so good! We can't wait to come back

The cornbread is getting smaller and smaller… I live close to this restaurant and I ordered countless take outs and dined in once, this tells how much I enjoyed the food there! But it makes me want to submit a review today because I’ve been noticing the cornbread is becoming smaller, when the restaurant first opened, the cornbread is big enough for 2 ppl to share and sometimes I can’t finish and will save for later, but in the last 2 times I had the cornbread, its size is noticeable smaller, I wasn’t paying attention until today I finished the cornbread by myself, wow. Please don’t cut the cornbread even smaller!

Ask to speak with Andy, then just say hi. Andy is amazing at his job he will handle the rest the atmosphere was already amazing, but when Andy stopped by and started talking to us, the atmosphere went through the roof. Great food recommendations and dessert he recommended was to die for.

Loveddd everything about this place from the beautiful young hostess at the front door ( she was very pleasant ) to our food with our Star server Andres.He was sooo sweet and kind answering all the crazy questions we had and all the recommendations he definitely helped us decide.
The food came out beautifully and was as delicious as it looked. Can not wait to come back! Thank you again for top notch service and excellent food all around.

Ordered through Uber eats food was flavorful and delicious. My favorite part was the Nashville chicken sliders. , ribs were amazing. The Mac and cheese wasn’t mushy it was al dente. Our dinner was amazing thanks!! 👍👍👍

The brisket and fries were amazing, our server Andres was really kind and helpful with our questions. My lil brother has a serious gluten allergy and our server was really careful about that making us feel safe.

Totally wonderful. Superb cuisine...especially a special one-night only vegan menu. Charming, friendly staff...and of course, Mr. Andy Husband, who coordinated this entire adventure! BRAVO!!

Not the biggest fan of the pull pork but I can tell that quality was there. I guess I’m just not a big fan of BBQ, but do not let this stop you from going there. Quality and quantity is obvious.

Update 9/21/23:

After emailing back and forth with Andy, I was brought back to give The Smoke Shop another try. Full disclosure, my meal was complimentary, but this did not influence my updated review. No one asked me to update my review either. The comments made in my original review below still stand, but my second visit was much better. Service was fantastic and on point. I ordered the brisket sandwich this time with a side of cucumber salad and fries. The brisket was cooked perfectly and served hot. The fries were seasoned, perhaps a little heavy, but still were very good. The cucumber salad was good, but I was expecting more of a vinegar taste, which I didn't get. However, the staff were more than happy to provide me with some vinegar to mix in with the cucumbers. Overall, my experience was great, and the food was 100 times better this time! Thank you, Andy, for bringing me back for another try. Your customer service is very much appreciated.

The food here is disappointing. The pulled pork came out lukewarm, the potato salad is very bland, and the Texas toast came out with some kind of spread on one of the slices but it wasn't really melted/toasted into the bread. There are only 3 desserts, one of which was unavailable. I would highly recommend Banana Pudding be placed on the menu. The current dessert options seemed lacking. Food-wise, the only positive was that the BBQ sauces were all very tasty. I tried the Gold Medal, Sweet Victory, and Hot Streak. My favorite was the gold medal. Service is fast and fairly attentive. The atmosphere is wonderful. There is a fantastic view of the Boston Harbor and the interior is very nice as well. This BBQ place has great potential... it just needs to work on the food. I'm willing to give it another go in the future - hopefully things improve!
