Peculiar Games and Hobbies

This peculiar store is a gem amongst game and hobby stores. Definitely worth checking out, even if its a bit of a drive.

Starting with the store itself they pack a lot into a little space. Seriously, the owner and/or one or more of its employees must be a master at Tetris. While it may not have every game ever there's still an amazing selection of games and if you don't keep a sharp eye while in the isles you may just miss something.

As for a room to play games in that is also smaller than some other game stores but certainly decent considering the small town the store is located in. Not a doubt in my mind that it probably gets a bit crowded on the weekends though.

When it comes to the staff I've got no complaints at all. They were friendly and knowledgeable and took time to answer questions and even chat it up with my wife and I for a bit.

At the end of the day Peculiar Games and Hobbies is a great game and hobby store that I hope to see around for decades to come. If you live in southeast KC or anywhere else near it it should certainly be your go-to game and hobby shop. If you live farther north or east of it then, much like a certain cheese shop in Osceola Missouri, it should be considered a routine stopping point on your way to or back from the Ozarks or Branson. Its like a gamers oasis.

This is absolutely my favorite place to shop for tabletop gaming! The owners and staff are so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about their products, and make you feel very welcome. We come in very often and I love to browse their Dungeons and Dragons minis, paint, and all the items they have on display around their shop. Even the customers that come in are super friendly, and it is all around an amazing environment to be a part of!
Also, as someone who LOVES to look at dice, they have whole displays full of them! I recommend this place to my friends and family all they time, and love that it is a family owned shop. It holds a very special place in my heart.

This game store is on par with the best and most professional in all of Kansas City. It caters to all the hobbies and board games currently in circulation. D&D, Warhammer 40k, Magic the Gathering, Battletech, and board games of every flavor.

There is ample space for meetings, gaming clubs and groups, tournaments, and MTG release events.

This store is community involved and hosts several charity events all throughout the year. Pictures included with this review show players participating in a custom game "Tournament of Champions" with all proceeds going to the Saint Luke's East Foundation in support of Breast Cancer patients.

Truly a fantastic establishment that is worthy of your patronage.

A really great little game shop. They have everything you need for your table top game or just your game night. The game room area has nice tables and chairs. I have a weekly D&D game and I love the space. The owners are friendly and helpful.

So many games! This place is fabulous. They have several rows of floor to ceiling shelves of games. Each section is well labeled and organized. There’s an expansion room off to the when you first walk in where you can go to play any of the games they have out for demonstration, or any games you’ve brought yourself. They do demo games quite often; they also have a collection of games for you to try out while you are there. They have a huge collection of games for sale, even some that are difficult to find, and their prices are reasonable as well.

The owners of the shop are super friendly and very helpful, they truly enjoy, engaging in conversation with their customers and getting to know you. I highly recommend you make the trip to this game shop, even if you are not local to the area.

Great selection of games. Friendly place, games available to try out in their game room at your leisure. A number of board game players gather on Sunday afternoons after 2pm til sometime in the evening. Friendly people just bringing in and playing any variety of games. From games you've never heard of to the usuals Magic, D&D, miniatures, including Warhammer, and much more. A brilliant gem of a store in the community.

I went in for magic the gathering cards and was greeted by staff and welcomed warmly. The prices are great and they have a great selection of sealed products. I would gladly come back and look forward to supporting this spot again!

This lovely store and their owners are literally the best and most thoughtful people. They will always hold stuff for you if possible and will always give you a call right when it's available. Also I've never been overcharged for anything here unlike other game shops!!!! Please come and support this place!

Amazing place to come and play your heart out and interact with the amazing staff. They have a huge selection of the most popular TTRPGs and a ton of board games. I've been going here for 2 years.

Though I live in Olathe, I will travel to visit this store. A family-owned business, I've been patronizing their establishment for years. They have one of the best, varied dice selections in the KC metro area. They have a nice game room, with different types of games scheduled daily. If you aren't sure what you are interested, the owners are always glad to answer any questions and offer opinions from their own experience with the various items available. Will definitely go again and highly recommend.

A great place to play board games and find new games to play for the whole family. Great owners, always friendly and do what they can to get you what your looking for. My daughter loves going to the game shop. Friday night Magic is our favorite night.

I went with my son to buy my grandson some Pokemon cards, binder and a tin. The owners are very nice, friendly and helpful. My son and his friends love to hangout here whether they're playing magic, DND or board games, which they have many board games to choose from to play. This is the local place to hangout for all ages! They have other games, like Warhammer, etc.. so if you like to have fun with friends and are a gamer or game player, why don't you stop by and check out what they offer?

I visited this store for the first time to pick up some card games, and it's such a fun place! The atmosphere is awesome, it seems like a great place to hang out

If you're looking for role playing games, board games, painting minis, this is the place to go. Worth the drive out here.

The have a large assortment of 3rd party content for 5e. (Kobold Press, Nord games, Frog God games, necromancer, TPK, etc)
Yes even wizards of the coast.

Lots of dice, from resin to glass, from solid metal to hollowed out dice with dragons on the inside.

They have a game room too.

If I could give 6 stars I would.

They have a wonderful selection of board games! Our family loves going there to try out different games from their library. There is a lot of space to hang out and play. We've also purchased Dragon Shield card sleeves and dice from this store. You'll find quite a variety of dice here. They're always so friendly and helpful too.
