My friend's alternator died and Tim and his workers went above and beyond to help us, staying open more than 3 hours past closing to fix it. Everyone was very nice and helpful and as two college age girls we felt like we could rest easy know that our car would be fixed. 11/10 would recommend.

Tim has been a life long family friend. He has always been in the elite ranks of professional race cars drivers & car designers/builders. With that knowledge, whatever he repairs or rebuilds, just gets that extra touch of being upgraded and improved that makes it shift better, run stronger, or last longer... things that an average mechanic will never accomplish.

New to town and found A-1 after calling a few other shops. Tim was very honest and professional, and ready to level with me about my cars problem. Cost of the diagnosis goes towards repairs if you get the work done at the shop. Price wasn't the cheapest, but it wasn't the most expensive either. Overall this was a superb experience!

In 2011, I bought a new Subaru from the local dealer. It was using oil so fast I kept a gallon in the car at all times. I went to the dealership to complain and they said it was within normal limits. I found out from Tim at A-1 that Subaru had published a warning that many 2011 Outbacks were using too much oil and would need new motors . He accompanied me to the dealership to explain the oil consumption history! They stated it needed to be driven a particular number of miles (I believe it was about 1,800 miles but cannot remember exactly), then checked to determine the oil consumption. This procedure needed to be repeated 3 times before it could qualify for a new motor . The two times I took it in, it was low, but they stated it was not low enough. I explained that I had to add oil during this time or it would have had none at all. That did not seem to matter to them and in fact they would not even check it for a third time! Finally, it threw a rod and I was stuck on I-70 for 2 hours before I could get it towed. They finally conceded to replace the motor which took about a week. The day I got my car back, the electrical system kept going out as I ran errands. I drove right back to the dealership that day. It was obvious they considered me an annoyance. I was told it was due to a bad battery. Because of the trouble I had with the dealership, I went back to A-1 for a new battery. It was installed within a half hour. The next day, again on I-70, the electronics went out completely! I had no brake lights to alert other drivers, and only momentum to get across 2 lanes to the shoulder. I was very scared I would be hit at 75 mph as, with no brake lights, I had no way to alert other drivers I had a problem. I had gotten on at the east Lawrence access and this happened within 3 miles! It was not the battery at all but a poorly connected main circuit the dealership had not even given a cursory glance. I guess a glib battery problem was easier for them. At that point, I no longer trusted or wished to work with the repair people at the dealership even though I had purchased their top warrenty when I purchased the vehicle. My daughter's family was expanding so I decided, since the car had a new motor, to send it to her on the east coast. Tim kindly went over it in detail to make sure it would be completely safe for my daughter and grandchildren. He also arranged for the transporter to pick it up at his shop for its trip the east coast. I felt he went above and beyond to making sure the car was now safe to drive, dealing with the transporter, as well as helping me communicate with the dealership, although they showed little respect for another professional. My daughter has had no more problems and I no longer have to deal with lackadaisical employees at that dealership. I recommend Tim as an experienced and outstanding mechanic with excellent cistomer service. It's hard to beat a hometown owner operated shop! He also recommended I buy a Chevy Equinox which has been trouble free. As far as I'm concerned he is the best machanic in Lawrence and I highly recommend his customer service and professionalism.

I'm new to using this shop, but have had nothing but positive experiences here. Tim is an honest guy and has even talked me through some repairs that I could do on my own instead of paying him to do them for me.

On more than one occasion Tim has gone above and beyond with my vehicle. Whether it be brake problems, electrical issues, or anything in between, he's made time or stayed late to make sure I'm up and running. This is the only shop I'll take my vehicle to.

When nobody else could help Tim fixed us up and had us back on the road in under 24 hours. Hopefully we never break down in Lawrence again but if we do I know where we will go. Thanks Tim.

Great service. Tim got in touch with me each day to let me know the progress. The job was done when he said it would be and was done at a very fair price.
