✅ Everything you need in a diner - comfort food, old time vibes, and fantastic service! I recommend this place if you’re looking for a diner experience in Kansas City!

Food: I ordered the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and wheat toast. Nothing that would blow your mind, but was everything you would expect from a diner. Toast was buttered and fluffy. Eggs and hash could’ve been a better texture, but tasted great.

Service: we were seated promptly and had an attentive and friendly server. No complaints here!

Atmosphere: if you’re into old school diner vibes with memorabilia hanging on the wall, this spot checks all the boxes. In our booth were Dagwood comics, which was a nice touch.

Pleasant experience for a quick bite before work. Staff were fantastic and attentive. I highly recommend this spot. Get a double Dagwood on Texas toast! Alternatively, a simple bacon egg cheese on an English muffin will do you well.

Came in today around 1030.
Was about a 10 minute wait or so.
Older styler diner atmosphere.
We got the chicken and waffles special, meat lovers omelete, and the dogwood sandwich.

The meatlovers omelete I got was super tasty, and overall was quite filling! Waffle special was good, chicken was crispy and warm.

Will definitely be coming back.

Nice little mom and pop place to grab a bite to eat. Very friendly staff and fast service. I had the breaded tenderloin which was perfectly cooked and tender. The breading/tenderloin could have used just a little bit more seasoning but still tasted very good. I got the side basket of fries and onion rings which were also perfectly cooked. Obviously a local diner with staff and patrons who know one another but as a stranger I felt welcomed and comfortable. If you're in the area I highly recommend stopping in and getting a bite to eat.

Oh My Gosh Nerer would I have ever. Found this place by Accident. The food was so awesome and only cost 30 bucks for 2 of us.

This is a fantastic breakfast spot. It has all the home cooked favorites on the menu, and the servers are very friendly. I was disappointed that nothing was homemade. Good, but the food has that "out of a can; out of a bag" feel and taste.
I happen to love corned beef hash out of a can, so I was okay with it. The generic pre-baked biscuits were the worst part of the entire meal. I like my homemade biscuits and gravy, so that was a real letdown.
Overall, I would certainly go back for breakfast. I would just make better choices from the menu.

We went on a Saturday morning because this place was recommended to us by the people we are staying with. Its a great diner-type restaurant, which is exactly what we love! We lucked out and got there just in time to grab some seats at the bar before it became full and people had to wait for seating. The food was wonderful, the service was excellent! I would without a doubt recommend this to someone look for a good diner breakfast option!

I have been coming here sporadically for the last 10 years. When I stopped in last week after not coming for about a year… things seemed different. My server Kim was AMAZING, the food was great as always, and the owner even came over and filled up my coffee and chatted a bit. Normally this was an in and out kind of breakfast place for me but I stayed and drank about 5 cups of coffee. They made me feel like family when I left. Not sure what changed but it was surely for the better!

Great little Cafe, I would call it more of a diner vibe, with a fantastic breakfast sandwich. The Dagwood. Wow 👌

Fried egg, bacon, pepperjack cheese, hashbrowns, all on Texas toast. With gravy on the side to dip. 👀

Great price for the portion we believed as well. $8.99

"I'll be back" lol

Quant place. Very retro. Good food. Reasonable prices. Tenderloin was delicious as were the onion rings. Hubby had the BLT. Said it would have been perfect if the bread had not been toasted. Excellent service.

Absolutely loved Dagwood’s! I’ve driven past here so many times heading down Southwest Boulevard and never really considered it, but I looked at the menu online and it looked like a good diner type place. So my wife and I stopped here for lunch on our way to the WWI Museum one day. The burgers and fries were delicious, the service was great and the decor was like a 50s diner. We don’t get down to this area often, but Dagwood’s is on our radar for when we do!

I've been coming here for 20 plus years. Food is always delicious, price is just right, staff is friendly, small mom and pop atmosphere. The wait is worth it for the Bacon Dagwood sandwich definitely!

This was quite the bustling place when I stopped in. However, the food was delicious and the staff were friendly, so the packed diner didn’t bother me as much. They provide QR codes on their receipts so you can pay using your mobile wallet - I have never seen anything like it!

Went there for brunch, and it was awesome! Wait to be seated was about 15 minutes. It was well worth it. When we were seated, my husband and I were immediately greeted by a server. She was friendly and quick. Our food was ready in about 10 minutes. It was huge portions and VERY affordable. We got the Dagwood and Breakfast burrito with chorizo and bacon and a side of hashbrowns. I recommend checking them out! They’re probably one of best breakfast places I’ve been to in KC.

What a little Gem! The staffs are all so nice and kind! Very good food! We had country fried steak and it was so very well seasoned. The biscuits are amazing and so soft and delicious! So happy to have found this place !

I ate there on a friends suggestion. Awesome food. I had the chorizo breakfast burrito with everything except green peppers and sour cream plus decaffeinated coffee. I opted to want gravy instead of sour cream in my burrito. The burrito comes with side of salsa which I wish there was more that comes with order. The burrito did not have the gravy in it I ordered and had sour cream was still served on the side. The coffee was freeze dried which was a first I’ve seen done and was unacceptable but I drank it. The first cup was actually good. The second one had stuff floating around and was weird looking. The burrito was killer tasting even though no gravy inside. I sat in the back area by the door to notice the much needed rug on the walk in ramp needs replaced from how nasty the build up was. The front entrance has a step up that I did not notice and about tripped going in the front door. Once inside a another step down part is there. Strange entry ways and only the back entrance was what really caught my attention on cleanliness. The cost to replace the carpet is minimal or just have it a concrete piece without carpet. Easy fix. The main entrance needs ramps instead of stepways. Other than my negatives, the food was really good. They could use help serving customers though. Just one extra waitress/waiter would be nice. And please stop serving freeze dried coffee for decaf drinkers. Maybe not enough people want decaf and may get old sitting on warmer is their reason??

This is a classic small town diner transported to the heart of Rainbow road in Kansas City. Expect good food, especially breakfast, and classic midwestern Hospitality. If you go on a weekend, there may be a brief wait.
