The Tea Kettle Restaurant

I was dropping my friend off and waiting to pick them up while they got their wisdom teeth removed when I stumbled across this place. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the woman who put my food in for me was kind. My food was ready in around ten minutes and was a very large portion; it was very good. I really enjoyed my experience.

We stayed right across the street and I'm so glad we stopped at the Tea Kettle! The staff is super friendly. We appreciated Julia taking the time to chat with us. I wanted the pancakes based on other reviews and they DID NOT DISAPPOINT! My husband had the Papa Smurf and I had the Strawberry Cheesecake. They were so delicious we didn't even need syrup. All the pancakes are topped with their homemade whipped cream. A great experience!

My wife and I went on a breakfast date after Christmas. We’d never been here (but since the Little Pub which we like nearby wasn’t open for breakfast so we decide to try the TK). Susan was our server and was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. My wife loved all the gluten-free options available. While we like Cristy’s as well for breakfast, I think the food at the Tea Kettle is better and we will be back and recommend it to others as they visit the Shoreline.

The Tea Kettle in Old Saybrook is one of our new favorite spots for breakfast and lunch. They are warm and welcoming and provide excellent service. The food is delicious and there are lots of options for those who are keto, paleo and/or gluten free. They also offer indulgences including a wall of decadent pancake and French toast options and a southern corner for those craving chicken and waffles and the like.

I love ❤ finding these hidden gems. The food was delicious 😋 and we had our 3 year old granddaughter in tow. She was entertained and powered through an enormous pancake (ok, as much as her tiny tummy could manage but she enjoyed trying 😄). Can't wait to go back again!

First of all, any diner that offers dairy free milk for coffee instantly has a good first impression for me. They also left the coffee carafe on the table so we could refill at our own pace which was so helpful. Service was fast and the eclectic decor made for a pleasant and relaxing breakfast. Hubby got the breakfast burrito which was better than average (potatoes on the side were sub par). I got the paleo eggs Benedict (picture) which was phenomenal, especially the sweet potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Haven't ever seen a dairy free hollandaise before Tea Kettle!

Extensive menu, tasty breakfast, and very clean. The service was slow, however that's not a bad thing when you're in good company.

And I would definitely recommend the "Southern Tour" breakfast dish if you like grits, biscuits and gravy.

As far as small town breakfast place goes, this one is excellent. Good coffee. Excellent non-greasy omelette, good salad, good french toast and pancakes.
Certainly the place to go for breakfast.

Simply stopped for breakfast, was warmly welcomed, served promptly. The manager, Lee, was delightfully friendly & helpful. The server was so very sweet & looked just like Jennifer Garner! Very clean, welcoming atmosphere permeated with ALL types of teapots 🫖 .They cater to regular diet PLUS vegan, vegetarian, Paleolithic, organic & more !!
I LOVED this place & will return frequently along with friends 😀.

Great service and food! My boyfriend and I tried the Bacon Apple Pie pancake and it was delicious!! Best pancake I have ever had ! I’m so glad we found this cute restaurant while visiting Connecticut, will definitely visit again.

Every time I've stopped here there has been a wait....so I would just go somewhere else....well that was a mistake.. shame on me for not waiting...the food is just amazing... I've eaten at a lot of place and had tons of great food but WOW this place is awesome...10 stars 2 thumbs up double Z snap and a smiley face sticker...our waitress was so friendly and on her game...the grits are heavenly so creamy

Absoluuuutely delicious!! I went one morning by myself and sat at the bar; it was excellent service and my waffle was amazing. The next day I went back with my boyfriend and friend and had an equally delicious meal. Food is dantsstic, the service is excellent. So many options I cannot wait to go again!

This is an amazing place for breakfast and lunch. There are known for their amazing pancakes. They they also strive for healthy eating in a lot of their dishes. Highly recommended. Great burgers and other sandwiches and soups.. A++

The Tea Kettle is our go to place for breakfast. Staff is always friendly and attentive and the food is professionally prepared, nice presentation, good size portions and, more often than not, I take home leftovers. I’m not a pancake person but, if you are, they offer a plethora of options and always a lot of creative specials in addition to the regular menu which is extensive.

Perfect breakfast. Some menu items have a southern flare which is nice. Wasn't overly crowded, food cane out quick, and staff was engaging.

AMAZING FOOD! It was so great, we went back for a second go round before heading back to NYC. The pancakes are huge and made to perfection. As a pancake officianado, I was worried the taste would be compromised by the size of the pancake, but it wasn’t. The Philly Cheese Steak Omelet was impressively flavorful to say the least. The syrup rocks, the potatoes melted in my mouth and the service was impeccable. Lee and the other young women working there treated us so very well.

Best gluten-free waffle I have ever had in my life. The GF sweet potato hash was also excellent. I love this place! And Lee provided fun and fabulous service!

This place is so good and I am glad we found them! The wait is a bit longer than most places, but it is worth it! I can see why it takes a bit for the food to come out. It really shows that they are making sure everything is 100%.

A unique gem. What makes this so very special is Lee. When my husband and I visit we always ask to be seated at her table. She makes this entire experience.
The menu is surprising as it is pretty big. It is not just breakfast but great lunch too. The menu is very well thought out and the food is excellent.
I highly recommend this quaint find. And Thanks Lee for making it one of our favorite places.
