We had a great stay. The host was very helpful, and worked hard to keep the camp and toilets clean. Definitely planning to return.

Great campground with lots of trees. Vault toilets and water. Be careful of GPS directions. Mine wanted me to head up basically an ATV trail to get there. Just head up from central city and veer left towards Boodle Mill but take the middle road and the campground is only about 1.5 miles down the dirt road. Do not keep heading down 3 and take any other tracks (eg the one near the reservoir) unless you’re in a Jeep.

What a gem! Was happy to get a site on July 4th. So much to do in the area. And Glenn the caretaker is a great guy!! Addressed any and all issues! Place was immaculate. Can’t wait to go back!

Amazing campground and nature at it's best! It's primitive and a bit rough around the edges and wooded. We were there for several days. It's quiet during the week but swells on the weekend. ATV's abound but the Host is on them well into the middle of the night. It has water and Vault toilets which are cleaned very well and stocked several times a day. Generators, music and partying on and off into the night but again, the CG Host was out getting the (rude) people in line (I don't think he sleeps!).
The size of our planned site was mismarked on the website but the Host (Glenn) was able to work some magic and get us into somethign more suitable. We had lots of questions and even a few problems which he was also Johnny on the spot to help us with.
I guess in summary the Forest Service provides a rough but beautiful piece of ground but such as the case so many times the Campground Host can make it or break it.
Nice Campground and a great Host. DEFINITELY RETURNING1

Nice place. Bathrooms, water, and firewood available. Use the Columbine Camp Ground rd right next to the Boodle Mill. Don't follow Google's directions. They take you to a very rocky road that is closed at the campsite side

Not expensive, nothing fancy, but great open spaces, very clean bathrooms, friendly camp manager. Can be a little noisy since there is an off-road vehicle parking spot close by, but that's why we camped here - very close to a ton of off-road trails. Good shade, bathrooms are vault toilets, can buy firewood there - does have water spouts to fill up but no RV hook-ups or electricity. Lots are good size and you can have multiple tents/RV in one site - up to 8 people. Our second time here - will come back!

Update - came back for third time this weekend - still great! Wood is a little expensive but otherwise it was quiet, clean and relaxing.

This place is great. Lots of first come, first serve sites. Lots of room grill and table on site. Two adults and one dog on site. She was on a leash the entire time. Other dogs at the campground didn't disturb. It's a very beautiful area. There's not enough shade on site. Definitely bring one with you. Overall, it was a great place to camp. We plan on camping again there.

Nice campground tucked up away in the mountain. It has two loops, both appropriate for trailer or tent camping. Several, very well maintained, vault toilets, water spigots, and bear bins for trash. Shade in most sites, lots of pines cover the campground. It has about 45/50 sites, and almost one whole loop had reserved signs for the weekend (we arrived on a thursday and it was pretty quite then). Lots of atv trails near by, seems like a lot of people are up there for that, but the noise from the vehicles didn't both me, the trails are a little ways away. We enjoyed hiking down to a stream and saw a little spring. We also hiked up Columbine campground rd (closed to vehicles currently) and very briefly spotted a moose. Hiked passed the reservoir to a larger open field that had a small water hole. Would be a great spot to post up and watch for wildlife. Found some cool bones, meaning this is clearly bear territory, hike smart! The trail also has a lot of interesting rocks, so keep your eyes peeled. One thing I found concernig was all the bullet holes in signs and casings on the ground in an area clearly stated shooting is prohibited. Around 10pm at night we heard around 15 shots go off around the area we had been hiking earlier that day. People clearly don't follow that rule, be aware.

I've been camping here for the past 6 years, this years camp host was by far the best we've had. He was very attentive to the bathrooms, making sure they were as clean as they could be. The ATV noise can definitely be a bit much sometimes but that's to be expected. We will definitely be back and hope our same camp host will be as well.

This is one of the better FS campgrounds. There are beautiful views (unless there's fire), it's a big campground, and the sites are relatively private. The ones at the back of both loops seem to be the most secluded. The two or three times I've been I've never had a hard time finding a site. That's mostly likely different on holidays tho. If you're planning a holiday trip make sure to reserve in advance and plan on sitting in traffic til you get there.

Beautiful campground! Scenic, private with all the needed amenities for a good camping trip! We were able to score a first-come first-serve spot on a Saturday as well!

Get the right campsite and it is wonderful. We reserved at the last minute and got space #4. A bit rocky and sloping. There is a spot to the right of the picnic table that is flat and our tent was too big to fit. Try to get a space on the outer loops. We pre-booked space #6. You walk down to camp spot and worth it! Flat area, less rocks, and grassy. You could fit 4 tents and have plenty of space. Outhouses very clean and well maintained. This campground popular with 4 wheel type vehicles so you hear the sounds of the engines at times. Nighttime quiet! Plenty of shade from pine trees.

If you want to take a walk. Turn left out of loop one towards loop two. You will see a large metal gate on the right. Walk around it and head down a nice old path that has plenty of shade and wild flowers. If you go far enough, you will see a reservoir in the distance, way down the hill.

If you turn right out of loop one and head for the metal gate by the corner. This pathway is all uphill and riddle with glass, broken clay, and barb wire. Not recommended if with kids or pets.

Love this place. If ATVs bother you, I Def wouldn't recommend, but it's my new easy, close by, go to camping spot with my pop up! Road to get in is pretty terrible, they're not wrong.

Spot 24 is the most secluded I'd say.

Visited 5/22-23/21. Best OHV campground. Clean campus, large enough to maneuver trucks and trailers easily. Restrooms are basic and well maintained and stocked with tp. Awesome that you can ride to the trailhead from your campsite.

Spots are a little close together but the host was great and the bathrooms were unbelievably clean for a campground.

Great campground not too far from the metro area. Lots of campsites but wasn't busy at all. Restrooms were clean and satisfactory for being vault toilets. I would definitely recommend this place.

Very nice camp. Can get crowded on weekends during the season. Facilities were decent. Lots of 4x4 options in this area. Bring a trail map to help make your trail time efficient.
