I called ahead for advice (3:50 pm MT on Mon, July 22, 2019) on where I might go with my boyfriend to disperse camp in a couple of days. The woman who answered was helpful and gave me detailed directions on where we might go, as well as advice on how busy the area might be at our time of arrival. I wish I had prepared a notebook and pen to write it all down while she was talking but I think I remembered it well enough!

They are doing the best with the resources they are given. I had a very pleasant experience.

We stopped by to find out about dispersed camping (boondocking) in the area and left with a map + a few pamphlets plus a suggestion of an area to check for camping sites. The ranger was very nice to us. As a plus the camping area suggested had amazing views!!!!

Called to get information about camping at clear creek lake. The fella who answered the phone was so RUDE we decided to FIND Another place to camp. There are

previous reviews about the "horrible" staff. Management, Please tell the staff to either change their attitudes or leave. We are coming there to relax and unwind NOT to be spoken to in an Aggressive & Rude manner.

The lady answering the phone needs a break.
When I called to get info on this campground, the gal that answered (5/27/19) yelled at me that she doesn't take reservations at this number, and cannot help me. She asked abruptly if I was ready for the number?! I didn't think I had a choice by her tone, so I took the number. I told her I was really sorry, this is the number listed on Google for the camp to ask questions, and she just talked over me, trailing off as she told me off for calling and hung up...She gave me the national toll free # to make a reservation. But, as you can guess, I still have questions about the actual campground, and I'm definitely not poking a bear by calling her back to ASK. The reservations line has no insight into the actual site. I thought perhaps the gal was just grouchy for having to work on Memorial Day, but based upon other comments, it seems like either she's been miserable for years, or they train people like this... 😯

Just called to get some information about recreational shooting, 11/25/2018 @ 12:00 p.m and i was treated with such disrespect by some lady who refused to give me her name. When i asked for anyone else i could talk to or a manager she said im not going to do that and hung up on me. I cant believe they have someone answering phones who is uninterested, uninformed and disrespectful! Of course when I called back the phone just rang and i got no answer. I am very disappointed by the way i was treated and this is the only way i can think of to be heard because im sure no one will hear about my complaint. If i am ever asked about anything that has to do with the Clear Creek Ranger Station/ Forest Service or anything related to it, im going to make sure they know exactly how i feel and how i was mistreated by this ugly hearted lady. Seriously, if you hate your job then do something else. Dont take it out on the public who are just looking for helpful information. Im trying to be respectful of anyone in the area and dont want to cause too much of a disturbance, so i figured i could get some tips of where to go and set up. I could just go set up shop at some random location and start shooting away with disregard for anyone around me, but i have enough respect and courtesy to ask an “EXPERT” beforehand. This lady ruined my whole vibe and how i feel about Clear Creek. Considering that it was a Sunday i cant imagine she was swamped with paperwork or other important things to do. By the tone of her voice when she answered the phone, she sounded like she was already Annoyed by the fact that I had even called her and disrupted her casual evening. I will be following up with local councils through email to further express my concern of the disrespectful attitude that is being portrayed at this current location. Based off of the level of reviews i can see i am not the only one who feels the same way.

Ever since the CCRD's Visitor Information Services operation was merged with the Idaho Springs Visitor Center, it has rendered service to the general public that is but a mere shadow of what it used to do. Now, the administrators hire people to hide behind inscrutable internet pages that are poorly updated, if ever!

The Clear Creek Ranger district is rapidly closing trails around the county. Pretty sad that they think they can just close without getting public input. "To save the tundra" is the excuse they give. Example is the Waldof Mining area above Georgetown. A very popular 4x4 climbing hill of rock and shale towards the Santiago fenced off and bulldozed. Has had no affect on the tundra in the 27 years that I have been there. That trail has been there since 1938 when the Santiago Mill was built. Forest Service is a joke in my opinion and should not have the power to close off established trails. It's not just Clear Creek but all over the state.
