I've visited 3 times. Each time camping on islands(Basswood once and York twice) Reserve your campsites as early as you can. Prices are great. Making it to the islands can be difficult.

I was lucky with wonderful weather each time. August is a good bet.

Breathtakingly beautiful. We spend almost every weekend on our sailboat in the islands and it feels like there is always something new to explore. The lighthouse tours are all wonderfully educational. Also, highly recommend the fish camp on Manitou Island. August is the best month for swimming as the water is at its peak warmth.

Amazingly beautiful. Pictures don't do it justice. We went after a rain and the boardwalk was a little slippery but manageable.

Great lake views on the out and back hike, although not as nice as Pictured Rocks. Probably a park best experienced by boat or kayak.

We took the cruise form Bayfield. It offered sweeping views of the islands, the Light house and Lake Superior. Personally, we felt the cruise duration was a bit longer. We went on a Sunny day and were quite exhausted by the end of the cruise. Nevertheless, the views were stunning!

This a must on your bucket list! Just absolutely stunning views up and down the whole national lakeshore. Madeleine Island is the only island that people live on year round, there’s also a state park that you can camp at if you take the ferry over and happen to miss it by 7pm. Most restaurants and stores close for the year the first week in October though, just a heads up! I highly recommend trek and trail if you want a guide for kayaking or anything. Bayfield Kayaks has great guides but they tend to cancel a lot of their tours last minute. In the winter it’s also a cool spot to check out for ice caves!!

This is my happy place! Sunsets and no regrets.... kayaking through the sea caves is amazing we got the opportunity to actually go into all of the caves water was calm an amazing experience highly recommended to all. Locals were all very nice and very helpful. Tom's burnt down bar is a blast. County Park and the state park are both beautiful. Water is cold all year round LOL but it's good to wake you up the water is ridiculously clear. Highly recommend doing a sunset tour bring wine lots of wine tour is several hours long nothing worse than running out of wine early. The Inn on Madeline in is very nice friendly staff and clean rooms. I will go back here every chance I get.

Amazing experience along Lake Superior. The waves were too large to safely kayak or boat while we were there. The Sea Cave hike was amazing and the rangers at the Myers Beach station made our kids Jr. Ranger experience memorable.

Gorgeous scenery. A variety of ways to see it, kayak, boat tour, hiking the shoreline... but gorgeous any way you choose. Especially beautiful in October. Was like a slice of Heaven ♡

So, so beautiful. We camped on Oak Island, definitely gets you that remote, wild feeling.

Great hike along the top bluff. Great views. We had hoped to go to the ice caves, but they were closed. Got some great pics anyway.

This place is amazing. We spent 5 days cruising around visiting islands across the park in our boat. We had so much fun planning to come back for years and years.

Amazing cruise experience. We took the Apostle Islands Cruise from Bayfield. Nice cruise. There's a perfect lighthouse on an island. Beautiful sunny day with great views. Thanks.

Amazing place to fully embrace nature. We both kayaked to the sea caves and camped on Stockton Island.
On the island, the longest trail are not fully maintained so be sure to have the appropriate gears.
It is really beatiful, even if you just go on the shorter loops.
The main problem was the bugs! Try your bug spray to test its efficiency and take it with you of you plan on hiking.

Absolutely enjoyed the stay here. Drove around the big island and enjoyed hiking the state parks. Absolutely beautiful in fall. Bayfield is a nice town to have a quick getaway and relax.

Vast scenic beauty on the shores of Lake Superior with many islands to explore remote wilderness. Lots of beautiful rocky cliffs and light houses as well. A boat tour is a must through these islands.

We took a challenging 3.5 or 4 mile hike from the Meyers Beach parking lot with 3 and 5 year old kids to the sea caves. Beautiful trail with lots of board walks, stairs, and steep, muddy hills. Definitely not stroller friendly. Plenty of parking for large vehicle along the road.

Beautiful easy hike through the forest. Saw a ton of cool mushrooms and saw the sea caves from the top. If I ever go back in the summer I will definitely rent a kayak to explore the caves. Or even go in the winter to see lots of ice.

We took the Apostle Islands 3 hour Lighthouse & Sea Caves tour and would highly recommend. The boat was nice and roomy, the captain was funny and interesting as he narrated the tour!

The views are worth the effort! Definitely worth the visit! The hiking trail is boarded for a good portion, and after that the trail is still well defined. There are a few spots where there is a little more difficulty with navigating slopes and steep steps. I only walked about half of the total trail to where the sea caves are visible, I am looking forward to returning to hike the whole trail to the campsite at the end.
