Crater Lake Campground

Amazing spot. Camping is fairly limited, it was totally full by 4:00pm so I just walked about 100 yards past spot #12 where the unfinished log house is. I camped exactly where the 'Crate Lake Campground' is marked on google maps, pic attached. A little rough but best view in the area. A bit smoky due to nearby fires.

So beautiful one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.

Gorgeous views and picturesque campgrounds on a highly frequented trail in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. BZ permits are required in the summer from June through mid-September but the Crater Lake area is accessible from the adjacent Cascade Creek BZ with a two mile hike.

The campsites, while beautiful, don't follow the tropical 100 ft from water and trail guidelines. Please be considerate and help preserve the pristine and gorgeous surroundings for all to enjoy.

Such a beautiful hike and not too difficult! The trail was marked well. Make sure you stay at the designated campgrounds. Crater Lake was beautiful and serene!

Awesome place! You DO need a permit during certain times of the year. I didn't know that and didn't see any signs about that, but I found out the hard way. They were extremely friendly, but have a job to do and are trying to strictly enforce the permit system.

Great view, fun hike!

I would give it a 5 star if you could reserve it but when we went we were outside of the reservation period and it was first come first serve. People that camped anyway we're facing $100-300/person fees so we ended up hiking back to an area that we could camp in. The views are worth the hike for sure, but I would not recommend going during the fall when you can't reserve it.
