Gene's Oyster Bar

I love coming in town for the oysters cause everything about it is just better. The atmosphere is very chill since people just want to come in for lunch and relax. The staff is entertaining and nice. We had a good conversation about where the oysters are now coming from since the hurricane affected Appalachiacola; and he tried to hype my wife up to get two shells and make a pair of earrings. If you like oysters as much as I do, give this place a try if you're down for a drive

Gene’s has new ownership but is always welcoming, has great service and the oysters were Alabama farm raised. The tuna dip was a bit dry so might need a little TLC doctoring!

We went out for oysters in 9 cities while traveling along the gulf coast from TX to FL. Hands down, this place was the best we came across, and the service & hospitality were outstanding. I can’t wait to get back to PCB as Gene’s will be my very first stop. Counter top seating and cash only service. ATM onsite. If there’s a wait, see it through. You will not regret it.

Super oysters both raw, baked, fried! The fried grouper throats were also raved about. Top off with fried okra and delicious sweet tea. Established 1930.

We visited Gene's a while back, around 11/2019, when my son took a class in Panama City. Without a doubt the best oyster bar I have ever been to. The people were very helpful and friendly. Along with oysters, I had Grouper Throat, that was absolutely great.

By far, the best meals we had during our two week stay in PCB. This amazing low key restaurant had the best oysters, fried shrimp and gumbo in the region. Not even a close second. Great staff, great service, great food! Thank you! 5 stars!!!

WOW! What a little gem. Had lunch here and practically ordered everything. Oysters, gumbo,
sautéed crab claws. The gumbo is homemade and chocked full of shrimp, andouille and okra. Yummy. The crab claws are served in a mix of Parmesan cheese, butter and garlic. 😋 It’s small and family owned for over 50 years. Go by and see miss Ann and enjoy and delicious meal!! Great customer service.

This little gem is one of if not the oldest oyster bar left in Panama City. So very glad we found it and ate at it. We will be frequenting it on our trips to PCB. A-1 food and friendly atmosphere! It’s a must for oyster lovers!

Our first visit to Gene's after the transfer of ownership. The same welcoming atmosphere, with great food and friendly service that we have always enjoyed. So happy to know we haven't lost Gene's.

This is a small place but worth stopping by! Oysters are shucked right in front of you and are so fresh. The owner and workers are friendly and make you feel like you have known them for years. Great place to eat.

LOVED IT. This is an old-school Florida oyster bar and they are cash only, be aware of this. I loved the counter service and the baked oysters were excellent. Priced fairly as well. Recommended!

Amazing place, the oysters were so delicious, the fried akro, the grouper, everything was really good, and our servers were kind and helpful.

Gene's is one of those places that you pull up to & just know it's going to be good. This place did not disappoint. Highly recommend. Everything we tried was fabulous. Did not catch our servers name but very knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly.

This establishment is fabulous for oysters and Fried fish.

If you haven't been yet then don't miss it. I had shucked oysters. My friends had fried oysters, grouper, shrimp, & clam chowder. They were already sold out of their oyster stew, which I am told us amazing. I will be back on my next visit to Panama City, you can bet on that.
A lot of folk from Flordia Baptist Disaster Relief frequent Gene's Oyster Bar when they are in town. I am sure their reputation has been spread across this nation by the volunteers that have come from states as far as Alaska, Hawaii, New York, Colorado, California, North & South Carolina.
