Pawnee Campground/Long Lake Trailhead

This is the TH for Pawnee Pass as well as a shorter trip just to Long Lake. The pass is awesome but a serious hike and watch the weather for thunderstorms in the summer!

This is a wonderful trail in a very special place. Highly recommended to conservation minded visitors. This is some of the best that colorado has to offer.

Great trails for hiking. Plenty of lakes along the trail for fishing. Picnic areas. Moose are always in the area. Get there early.

One of the best experiences of my life!! I was visiting a friend in Boulder, CO and we took a day trip. Well worth the short trip up into the mountains. The snow and ice is amazing and was still present in late May. Sliding down a glacier on the snow, falling waist and chest deep into the snow kind of makes a short day trip worth every second. We had the dog with us but make sure you have a very long leash. You will feel like you are one with Mother Nature. Bring sun screen, water, a good source of energy/protein a wind breaker hat and sun glasses etc... I recommend a change of close, socks and so on to be left in the car... food also is a must after a long day hiking. Strongly recommend very comfortable hiking boots, waterproof is a plus. Camera also!! Be prepared to have the time of your life.

This is a gorgeous Alpine walk in the woods. Picturesque spot to bring visitors who aren't acclimated to the elevation and who don't hike but who want to see some Colorado beauty. Keep your eyes peeled for moose!

I've only done the lake Brainard and waldrop(?) Trail. It was about 4 miles from the trail head to the lake and it was mostly flat. It's beautiful and it would make a great little hike for all your visitors that come from sea level.

Parking near the lake is difficult during busy times. There is more parking near the recreational area.

The trail along Long Lake is so beautiful. Fairly-well maintained and you get to see a couple of mountains up close (and near the tree line). So glad we visited this trail.

Long Lake TH leads to Jean Lunning TH, which goes around Long Lake and up to 10,750 in elevation. It also leads to Isabelle Glacier Lake, which is a more strenuous hike and over 11,000 in elevation. Both trails are stunning!

Like being in a painting. The beauty that surrounds you is incredible. Colorful Colorado for sure. Time well spent
