A bit tough to hike, definitely bring water and hiking boots, we went when it was little icy, i would say the hike will be harder than expected but once at the top, wow what a view!

Challenging trail, make sure to bring good hiking shoes and water. This is a practically vertical hike on slippery dirt and rocks. Come prepared and you'll be rewarded with an amazing view of Beacon, Newburgh, the Hudson river, shawangunk ridge and Catskill Mountains.

First time doing this hike and it was very rewarding. Steep incline going up, definitely not a casual hike. Be prepared with good hiking boots or sneakers with good grip and plenty of water. Views at the top are spectacular especially during autumn. Be cautious on the way down, as it can be slippery with lots of loose rocks on the trail. Will definitely be coming back here for a good workout

Really enjoyed this challenging hike! Took about an hour up and about 20 mins down. Trail was well marked. I’m a pretty active person, but this was a very steep hike. Nice views once you’re at the top.

One of my favorite hikes, but not for the unprepared! Wear spikes on boots in the winter. Poles are great to protect your knees - especially on the way down. You can see the Manhattan skyline on a clear day. Definitely worth the effort to get to the fire tower.

Came here in October & November of this year. Both times were on a Saturday but never too crowded. The path starts out with an inclined walk near the trailhead, followed by stairs and then a a very steep rocky path. The walk up to the Overlook is strenuous and definitely caused me to stop several times to catch my breath. I would not recommend for beginners but definitely can be done if you're in good shape. The view at the Overlook is pretty and on a clear day you can see for miles.
If you have any energy left I recommend you continuing the walk to the Fire Tower. This path is no where as tough as the first climb but it'll take you about an extra 20 mins to get to the tower. The view at the tower is amazing and you'll probably have to wait a while to climb it because of the crowd. It's extremely windy up there and you may feel the tower moving. Yes, I chickened out and didn't make it to the top.
There are many restaurants nearby in Beacon that you can walk in as you are and recharge. Definitely will be coming back to this area.

Really nice short hike to the overlook. Pretty steep accend and descend so make sure you have the right shoes. Account for 30 mins up to the overlook if you’re fit. There’s also a potable toilet at the parking area.

Nice spot to enjoy an early view when heading to Beacon Mountain. The ruins are very interesting, I especially loved exploring the old gear house for the railway. Good views in daylight and at night...

Amazing views! It takes a while to get up to the overlook, but so worth it! I came for the sunset and it was so beautiful! It was a little hard to get back down in the dark because of how steep and rocky it is in some spots. I would recommend going earlier in the day because you will need to take breaks going up if you’re not an experienced hiker. Great workout though! Definitely bring a bottle of water and some snacks.

Great views. Moderate hiking trail. My kids ages 9 and 11 made it fine. Bring lots of water and stay on the trail. I miss the incline railway. Almost forgot..Bring snacks 😀

Enjoy the climb! A vigorous workout. To make it worthwhile, go all the way to the fire tower. On a clear day you'll easily see the Manhattan skyline.

About 3 miles RT to where the Casino once stood. Quite a trek uphill but we took breaks. Once on top, panaromic views. Worth the hard work. Remnants of the old tram along the trail.

It's so gorgeous up here. At first the hike seems unbearable, and truly doesn't even get better towards the top lol but after about an hour hike you will forget you even hiked the mountain! I personally wasn't sore from the hiking (leg days at the gym are worse for me) it was mostly that my cardio game is not strong. If you have asthma avoid at all costs unless you have an inhaler.

I was surprised about the amount of people doing the hike (a lot of people in groups). The trail was icy and full of snow as it had snowed the day before. Being totally out of shape I had to keep taking breaks and it took me over an hour to make it to the top. Overall it was a great experience and will be doing it again!

What a beautiful trail! This was our second time hiking it, this time with a puppy. There are 2 trails to get to the overlook; I can only speak for the shorter one. It was a little steep, but not much of a hike to get to the top. I do recommend!

The summit is my reset point. The surrounding views brings the peace and freshness to one's mind...

Overlooking the whole Hudson valley, beautiful sunset hike . It’s a rocky road hike up to the ruin casino about 4miles both way, high elevations about 1800 ft .

Great views, not too steep a hike. 8 year olds did it with us. About 4 hours round trip.
