Lake Bluff Hub and Cycle

I’m planning a cycling trip and walked in to ask questions on preparation for a long trip. The knowledge and patience to answer my questions was beyond generous. I felt more motivated and capable to be able to do a long trip across states from my conversation here.

I also got my bike serviced and couldn’t complain. If anything, I’m sure my bike is better now thanks to Hub and Cycle. And I needed lights badly, break pads, and my handle bar fixed. Purchased Ravemen LR500s with rear red light. It works nice with trips around city or suburbs. On the trail at night pic below.

And if you are cycling lots around Chicago area, it’s a great place to stop and get your bike serviced (if needed) and get food while you wait. Get the raspberry sorbet to cool down.

Hub and Cycle is the best local bike shop I've ever been in. They have a great selection of any quick part you may need, but most importantly they are just genuinely nice people. They're happy to answer any question on bikes and how to ride them, and suggest products based on your needs and preferences, not what they need to clear from the floor.

I also love that the repair stand is right there on the floor with a window. So many bike shops take your bike to a mysterious back room and are unwilling to explain what they're doing to the bike. Hub and Cycle are very happy to explain not only what they're doing but how to do it as well.

Called in for a tire and front break issue. When I arrived I felt welcomed and the service was great. Definitely recommend this repair shop. Very cordial and knowledgeable staff. Will take my other bikes there for maintenance.

Barrett is an outstanding mechanic with a can-do attitude approaching any problem. He's been very supportive of riders in our community and I couldn't recommend LB Hub and Cycle enough!

We spoke with Nick and he was both very knowledgeable and very helpful. We had brought our custom built tandem bike to M&M Cycling to get tuned up and fixed up and our first ride with the bike after this was near Activator Cycles. We needed to bring it in to Activator Cycles as when we got ready to ride we noticed the wrong tube was put in our rear wheel and we could not pump it up. The people at Activator Cycle were courteous and helpful, but also very genuine. They invited us both to ride with them in their evening rides and indicated how cool impressive the bike was. At M&M Cycling the owner had said our bike was a hodge-podge of parts and he thought it had been in an accident. Please if you are in the area bring your bike to Activator Cycles.

Great bike shop smack dab in 'downtown' Lake Bluff. Close to bike trails and Metra station. I already have a great bike, and Rob helped me get a few add-ons that I wanted, namely a Burley pet trailer. They even installed it and showed me how to quickly un-attach and re-attach. A few weekly rides start here (or near here) and while I haven't done them yet, I'm planning to. Great shop.
