Went on the 6 mile loop hike and it was beautiful. Great for dogs and people! A bit of elevation change for those who aren’t used to hiking uphill, bring lots of water, once you get out there, it’s a long way back! Parking was limited, be early.

I am so glad we found this place. The walking trail follows the Chattahoochee River and gives phenomenal views. I felt so at peace while I was out here at this park (aside from all the spiders) and will definitely be coming back. My dog had a great time as well walking the trails and sniffing his little heart out. They did have bathrooms, although I can't attest to the quality as I didn't use them. You do have to pay a 5$ day pass fee at the kiosk but it was well worth it. Do yourself a favor and visit this beautiful park.

Nice resting area and good short trail. River is refreshing and shallow. Saw lot of people fly fishing.

This trail is well maintained. Most areas are shaded, and one can meander for hours without worry about too much sun.

Pretty cool place for a family or friends chill out. Best to visit it around the sunset when there is friendly crowd and plenty of birds. Also sunsets here make a great place for photography. We had gone to the other side of the river which is a slight detour but relatively more private n quiet.

Great trail so close to Johns Creek. Loved the shaded trail along the River side. It has many other trail loops to go up on the hill or deep into the woods. We’ll definitely come back again.

Beautiful put in or take out point for Chattahoochee river runs. The rapids by the observation deck are a great time!

This Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area park along the river is much more than what first meets the eye. From the main parking lot one can travel north (left) for a bit along the river trail until the trail ends behind the unsightly green chain link fence of Country Club of the South. Alternatively one can turn south(right) to walk much further with the magical river flowing off of your other shoulder. It's once this trail along the river seems to end and you head up the wooded hill that this park unfolds the full somewhat hidden beauty that it has to offer. The path up the hill leads to a much wider expanse of woods and another trail section along the water.

Great easy hike, with easy access to the river, if your pooch is aquatically inclined.

First visit to this National Rec Area. Park is in good condition with good roads, fairly clean restrooms/water, good maps at intersections, a relatively new river observation deck, and quite a few hike options with an outside loop being just over 5 miles. We were lucky enough to have 4 deer run across our path.

This is a great park, it's got some good hiking trails that the whole family can enjoy.

The overlook on the hooch is a really nice place to sit and take in the view and listen to the river.

It's a beutiful place! I love the river and how they're huge rocks almost like caves in some sections. If you want a heavily forested area near by the comforts of the city, this is totally the place. Here are some things everyone should be aware of:
1. There are LOTS of bugs
2.The river can rapidly rise when they open the dam, be careful
3. Some less hiked trails are dense with vegetation, wear long pant

Lots of parking, and restrooms at the head of the trail (though they were closed for renovations when we visited). Trails are clear and easy to discern, though they are not all paint marked. Lots of spots to stop for a picnic. Although you're in nature, what I like best about these trails is that you're never very far from a neighborhood in case there's an emergency (we hike with small kids).

Very good trail for dogs and kids over age 3.

Quiet, peaceful hiking trail along the Chattahoochee River. I bring the children (7yo & 12yo) that I nanny for here for hikes and we pack lunches, wade across the river, have picnics on the little island (a few hundred yards down the trail if you take a right), and go swimming! I frequent this place by myself and often see fisherman so this must be a good spot to fish as well.
*Parking is either $5/visit (credit cards or cash are accepted at the machine), $40/yr with a pass (purchased at the machine here), or $80/yr with a National Park pass (NOT purchased here).

This is my all time favorite park along the Chattahoochee River! I've been going here for years! When walking along the nature trail there are many alternative routes that lead to private fishing/hang out spots next to the water. You cannot see the main trail and you cannot see you neighbors. Great for fishing, kayaking, boating, and working out. Love, love, love!
