P.J.'s Oyster Bar

We had dinner here on a stormy night. Our party of 6 had about a 30 minute wait so we sampled a few mixed drinks. Upon being seated I promptly ordered a dozen oysters. I bribed my son into trying one and he did not enjoy them as much as I do, but he did manage to keep it down. These were some of the meatiest oysters I've ever had. Main courses were served and everyone enjoyed their meals. Our waitress was very good and was always around to refill drinks. If I lived closer this would become one of my favorite places to eat.

It was Mother's Day and busy. We were seated promptly outside. Our server quickly asked what we wanted to drink. Our drinks came very fast. We ordered the Chicago oysters. We spent the winter in New Orleans and the oysters were the same way. They were small but very tasty. Next we had the mussels in white wine garlic sauce. Very tasty. Boy the desserts were delicious. We took home the key lime pie and the caramel peanut butter cheesecake. A great place to eat. Would highly recommend it.

The star of the show, their oversized raw oysters, are a sight to behold. Served fresh and shucked expertly, each oyster is a succulent treat bursting with flavor. Whether you prefer them with a splash of lemon or eat with hot sauce and crackers , PJs are the biggest I had on the beach! They were bigger than the saltine!

Apart from the exceptional oysters, PJs boasts a bar food and fish menu . The buffalo shrimp were large and the wings were well done. The attentive and knowledgeable staff enhance the overall experience, providing recommendations. Drinks and food came out quickly.

They are first come first serve but we didn't have to wait for a table of 2 after 8 pm: Decor is kitschy with records on the wall (actually really good ones) and dollar bills every where.

This has been my favorite so far! I love seafood and love when it’s served in a great atmosphere by friendly people! We had supper here and it was busy. We waited about 30 minutes when they estimated 49 - so that’s a win! We had to dine inside because it was so busy but that turned out just fine. The hostess was hospitable and our waitress was attentive. Drinks never hit empty and our food came out quickly and hot. I had stone crab and the portion for price was perfect. My husband had Chicago style oysters and they were delicious. We liked this so mi h that when it rained today we headed back over. We got to sit outside and watch the storm. I had three orders of steamed clams (I told you I love seafood and I mean that’s only 36 small bites of food and it was raining so there wasn’t much else to do!) My daughter had grouper bites and they were good. Our server was all decked out in purple Easter bunny ears and patiently kept the clams coming :)

Cold drinks, fans on the deck, and our dinner items were very good.

Came out from Sandy Oregon to work for a few days in Largo. Stayed in IRB and tried to eat close by. Of the three places we went, this was by far my favorite. Loud as hell, lots of things to look at, food was good, our server was awesome. Even the busser had the position locked down tight.

P.J.'s is wonderful. We go for the crab legs and the clam strips. Each dish comes with two sides. The clam strips are huge and look to be freshly breaded, not like the ones you get from the grocery store or any of the chain restaurants. They're fried perfectly and are not overly "chewy". The crab legs are sweet and also cooked to perfection. They provide a generous portion of melted butter for dipping. The service has always been wonderful and attentive here as well! I recommend the outdoor seating, which has the ambiance of an old beachside diner. Highly recommend this restaurant!

The food was really good. I love that it was an established neighbourhood restaurant. The service was ok but I don't think that was a failure of the server. It's just the vibe. Laid back. That isn't going to prevent me from going back. Again the food was really good. I highly recommend the grouper nuggets and Chicago oysters. The drinks were stout as well. The atmosphere was a perfectly normal beach vibe. GREAT music.

The food was excellent! Nicki our waitress was great waitress! We had oysters on 1/2 , clam chowder & grouper. Every thing was delicious

This restaurant is unique in many ways. The atmosphere is family-friendly. The food is fresh and most definitely delicious (get those gator bites 🫦 😋) And they allow you to leave your mark per se by using a $1 bill, you can write a message or your name, ect. and staple it to the beams. Not from Florida, but every time we visit, we go to P.J.'s because it's one of our favorites ❤

Also, right down the street, there is a boating dock where you can spot dolphins and manatees early morning/afternoon. Take a stroll and see for yourself!

All four of us very much enjoyed our various meals, including wonderful Caesar and house salads. Meals included steak, fried seafood trio, mahi, and the lobster tail with snow crab and dungeness crab legs. Our waitress was fantastic, as was the one who served us last year. Cool musical decor and music (not too loud) in the background. We'll definitely return next May!

We loved the food, but KC, our waitress made it even better! She was very attentive and helped us order with her recommendations and what we liked to eat. It was also very accommodating for my husband in a wheelchair! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Fun decor, loved the food. Went several times while in the area. Great service, great food great location. What more do you need?

After six months away, our first choice for dinner was PJ'S Oyster Bar. Michelle's greeting and service were outstanding. Cordial, professional, witty and welcoming she is a real asset. Dinner was just the perfect portion, combined with excellent taste and affordable.

Parking was actually available on a Friday evening (which is almost impossible on IRB) , and our party of 3 was extremely satisfied overall. Obviously the restaurant was crowded, so we ordered drinks & food at the bar. Lauren was a great bartender! We all agreed that it was great service and would be returning.

I’ve been here twice now so I’m doing my due diligence and leaving my 5 stars here. It’s a great spot to go eat after a lengthy beach day. The Chicago style oysters were so good which lots of cheese, butter, and lemons to top it off! We also got the garlic butter scallops and boiled shrimp, both which lived up to our satisfaction. Very laidback and casual atmosphere and awesome service from the staff! I want to start making this place as a part of my beach day routines because it’s just easy and straight up great.

I was super impressed with this restaurant and the service! Not only was all the food absolutely divine, but so was our waitress. She was so attentive and helpful with us! I definitely recommend the scallops in garlic butter sauce, by the way. They were cooked to perfection! 10/10 recommend this place for some quality seafood.

Such a fun place to dine. Worth the wait! Food was excellent, service was even better! We loved the decor, searching through all the old records in the rafters, reading all the dollar bills lining the walls. Food was fresh and arrived quickly despite how busy they were. Highly recommend!

I recommend the grouper sandwich with fried beer batter and fries. The clams, fried oysters, crab cake, and clam chowder were all delicious too. Great atmosphere. New favorite spot! Oh and definitely get the key lime pie for dessert! Creamy and absolutely delicious. Some of the best I’ve ever had.
