Viking Motel

I travel all year with my job and usually stay in bigger HOTELS so when I first pulled in I was skeptical… I have stayed in MOTELS in the past and they were not the greatest experience. This motel is awesome.This is definitely the nicest MOTEL I have ever stayed in.The owners have done an amazing job to update this one. Rooms are very clean, quiet and worth every penny. Nice comfortable beds clean shower with good water pressure. Double rooms have full size refrigerator/ freezer, the singles have a refrigerator / freezer that is twice the size of any other HOTEL OR MOTEL that I have stayed in. Both have big screen t.v. There is a very nice place to sit outside with 2 grills , fire pit and covered patio with a table and nice chairs. The owners who are on property and always available if needed are pleasant to talk to and deal with. The Viking motel will always be my choice when I’m in this area!

Right off the bat I am going to say that this is not a fancy upscale motel. This is an older motel but the people were super nice over the phone and took my info for reservations quickly and efficiently. The room was decent sized with everything I would need such as a fridge and microwave. The bed was good with cozy blankets. They had nice fluffy towels and hot water for showers. Even though it is older motel, the upkeep and cleanliness is amazing. It was better than some supposed 3 star hotels I have stayed in. I would stay here anytime I'm in the area as the price is great, the rooms are cozy and clean and didn't have a bunch of noise and commotion.

Great cozy, small town atmosphere. Away from the big box, high priced rooms. We will definitely visit Bob and Jacob again if in town.

The Viking Motel is a great place to stay in Montevideo. The owner, Maya, and extended family were accommodating and most helpful from my first booking call and throughout our visit. Our king bed and bedding were very comfortable and everything was very clean. We appreciated the fridge with freezer and microwave for stay-in meals as well as a welcome bag. Our dog received a holiday gift as well! We were pleasantly surprised to find a larger screen tv with on demand programming, although we couldn't figure out how to add closed captions which seniors often prefer. :) We were and are so grateful for the family's support in many ways when our dog took ill. We will definitely stay at the Viking Motel the next time we come through. Granite Falls and the Fagen Fighters Museum is about 20 minutes away and well worth a visit! Plenty of nice walks and river views nearby as well.

Wow, I absolutely loved this motel! Our room was adorably renovated mixing new looks while also keeping some of the original fixtures. It has been the cutest motel I have stayed at. The staff was welcoming and was helpful directing us to where we could park with a trailer. There was a nice grassy outdoor patio area with table, chairs, grill, fire pit, and beautiful flowers. There were also chairs on the side walks in front of rooms. The neighborhood was quiet as were other guests. We got a two fulls room it was very clean, the beds were comfortable, the shower was nice and had a super tall shower head which is good if you are quite tall. Check out was very simple.

Great people. Very welcoming. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. We stay once a month for the ACL regional events. We have been in a different room each month and they have always been attended to well, never had an issue. Highly recommend if you are looking for something simple, comfortable, and affordable. Close to a few restaurants and bars too!

Super clean motel with excellent, friendly owners very willing to accommodate their guests. Rooms are decorated so cute, like a little home away from home. BIG TV, very nice newer comfortable mattress, combo mini fridge with freezer a nice perk. Even a gift bag with treats! Cheval mirror for dressing and a comfy recliner to boot. Small bathroom typical of motels but spotlessly clean, had great shower pressure with plenty of hot water, and super soft, fresh towels. Pet friendly with nice picnic area outside complete with grills, gazebo, and seating. Just a perfect value, thank you!

People in charge are extremely nice and humble. Very helpful and nice. Room is beautiful and everything is well taken care of. The cutest and nicest motel I've ever been to. Would come back here over anywhere else 100% of the time.

my brother rented two rooms for my grandfathers funeral and the staff were amazing and the rooms where super cute and perfect great A/C and great stay will stay again and will recommend

Thankyou so much for such a wonderful stay! And Thankyou for thinking of my dog and giving him toys! The motel was so clean, so quite, and exactly what we needed! Comfy beds, strong AC, cute BBQ space, and guest laundry! We will be keeping this place in mind for anytime we need a place to crash in the area. So glad we stumbled upon this gem. 😁

Nice room, comfortable king size bed. Small bathroom, plenty of towels. Fridge and microwave. No hair dryer in the room, but one was available on request.

This motel was very nice to my daughter who needed to stay for a few weeks for a college assignment. The staff was friendly, professional, and kind. The rooms were clean and refurbished. The exterior was clean and easily accessible. It was great being so close to the hospital. Thank you for making her stay nice, safe, and easy. Definitely would stay again.

Hotel was very clean. Owner leaves treat bags in the rooms for people staying lots of goodies!!’ Beds we’re comfortable and didn’t hear outside noise in the rooms. We stayed for 2 weeks and had 2 dogs with us also and plenty of room for dogs to roam and play. Towels were fluffy and smelled fresh!! There is a outside sitting area with grills and a fire pit which it awesome!! Owner is very accommodating if you forget something at home. All the rooms have bigger size refrigerators in them plus microwaves. I would definitely stay here again!!

The owners do a fabulous job! Super clean, large refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee pot an coffee, muti port power stand on night stand, large T.V. Check in extremely fast check out is just leave the key in your room super nice. Great location. Thank you for doing an excellent job of operating a business. Hope to stay with next season

Clean and cozy. I don't typically have guards in Montevideo, but if I did, this would be the place I'd stay everytime. Clean rooms, nice shower, rocking chair, fast wifi, and a nice little welcome basket with snacks! Owners are nice and I was greeted in the office by at least 4 welcoming kitties. Nice place

Always clean, simple, and friendly. Great value and one of the best little motels I return to. Locally owned and operated by a great family too. I always give them my business when I pass through.

SO CLEAN!!! :)) I grew up in Montevideo, MN, so when I come home to visit, I always stay at The Viking Motel. Maya is always welcoming and remembers me, and doesn't make me feel bad when I lock myself out of my room. ;) In the past, I have stayed in other motels in town, but none of them compare to The Viking. I am always so impressed with how exceptionally clean the rooms are and how soft the towels are and smell fresh from the dryer. It felt like a home away from home. Maya, thank you for your hospitality and congratulations on your new Clara City location!

No complaints, front desk was super friendly , very helpful. Motel is dog friendly which is a plus. Located next to Hwy 7 so easy to find. Can’t go wrong with the room, modern bedding and room was clean. Don’t judge this book by its cover could use a new parking lot. They seem to stay busy so book in advance.
