Gilden Woods Grand Ledge

My daughter attended Gilden Woods in Grand Ledge for over 2 years starting at 10 weeks old. I felt very comfortable sending her there with teachers that truly cared for her - we only left because we moved. The rooms are spacious and even have cameras you can access via an app to look into your child's classroom whenever they are there. The app also tells you about the food your child eats, all of their diaper changes, and even allows for communication between the parents and teachers. This daycare is worth the cost and at least a tour to see for yourself!

Neglectful, absolutely disgusted with this place. They don’t interact with your child in the slightest, dirty bottle warmers, and lazy staff. Any concerns we have had were not taken seriously. Over the last couple weeks, on multiple occasions, we have witnessed our son on the floor screaming and crying through their mobile app/camera. When we arrive 20 minutes later, we’d find him in the same place, still crying with snot all over his face. Today at pick up, he was wedged under the changing table, where he couldn’t move, screaming and exhausted. We are leaving this place immediately, and would not recommend anyone bring their children here.

“Child Care Staff Member 1 inflicted mental and emotional punishment by yelling and swearing at the children in care. VIOLATION ESTABLISHED”

“Child Care Staff Member 1 did not provide appropriate care and supervision to the children in care when she handled them roughly and pulled on their arm. Ms. Riis and Ms. Zimmerman also did not provide appropriate care and supervision to the children in care by not following up on concerns brought forth regarding Child Care Staff Member 1. REPEAT VIOLATIONS ESTABLISHED”

I received a call from CPS after a report that my 1.5 year old had been slapped across the face by a caretaker at Gilden Woods in Grand Ledge. When I spoke with Bridget the director, she blamed the report on women being “catty” in the workplace and said she didn’t believe the allegations at all.

Bridget assured me she never had any concerns or complaints about this employee brought to her attention. The multiple documented reports and employee interviews that are now public information state otherwise.

I pulled my child from Gilden Woods immediately, but was told the employee continued to work there with children “as little as possible.”

The next report about a month after this incident states a parent called police into the facility. She witnessed the same caregiver (the report cites the screenshot I provided CPS) had “flung” her infant on the live video stream. This incident finally established violations had occurred before, during, and after after my daughter’s case.

The safety and wellbeing of literal babies is not a priority at this facility, and they attempt to sweep child abuse under the rug. It’s all there in black and white on LARA’s website.

Terrible with infants. They don’t play with them or do any activities.
