Schafer's Landscape Supply

This is the 4th time I have had materials delivered in the past few years. Once again they delivered when requested. I requested a call 30 minutes before arrival which I got and the driver was very courteous and put the 10 yards of screen dirt exactly where I wanted it. I always buy from the Grand Ledge location and the staff is very helpful in selecting which materials I need.

Had what I needed

I have always had good customer service with Schafer's. I will continue to use Schafer's in the future. Today I had a customer service representative that was worried about me stiffing him on a delivery of 5 yards of top soil for $119.00 Really? He was reluctant to unload my delivery until he had the money up front. And he advised me he didn't have change. Keep the dollar buddy! I usually tip 20%. But if a dollar works for you it works for me.

The young lady that I talk to when ordering was wonderful, the driver that delivered my load of stone was a great guy, but I think if the manager/ owner can't get more then one person to drive for his deliveries for three supply yards he needs to get in a truck himself and make sure the deliveries are on time not 4 hours late. I am not impressed with the overall management like that.

I ordered 15 yards of mulch to be delivered on Monday, April 15 as my husband and I were going away for the weekend, but took Monday off to mulch our yard. I have used Schafer in the past. Every time, I put down a tarp as it can stain our driveway. The lady on the phone even read back the day and time for delivery. On got home Friday, April 12, after work and had 15 yards of mulch in our driveway. Because they came several days early and no call to let us know they were coming days early, I wasn't able to put down a tarp. I called Schafer, but since they were closed for the night, I left a message and asked for a return call. It is now Wednesday and no one has bothered to call. We even cut our weekend vacation short as we were concerned with the possible damage to our driveway. Guess we don't matter enough to get a call back or even to apologize.

They have the materials I need but are very poor at customer service. I have been there multiple times during their posted hours and found the gates closed and no one around. I have had to start using hammond farms more as I can rely on them to actually be open.

We will never use Schafer Landscaping again. They did not deliver on time. It took 4 phone calls from us to get it delivered on the day we ask for it. The product screen top soil was not very good. It had alot of rocks and clay. We needed a second load which we got from some place else and it was wonderful.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!
My neighbor and I ordered mulch. They said the delivery would be the first one of the day in the 9:20 am slot. They didn’t show up until 11:30 am. I called 3 times 9:40; 10:40 & 11:15 to be told each time the mulch was on its way or it should have been there by now. This was very frustrating as we already had other plans in the early afternoon and expected to be able to spread the mulch before leaving.

Then we had guessed how much mulch we would need and of course it wasn’t enough. We realized this about 12:15 the same day. We then called back to get more delivered (only because we want the mulch to match exactly) they said they would be there in a couple hours.

......they never showed up!

What terrible service and a horrible experience for us. We DO NOT RECOMMEND SCHAFERS LANDSCAPE!!

Now we have to figure out what to do with the mulch.
