Severson Dells Nature Center

Nice nature area. The kids play spot was fun, but could use a little sprucing up, but still was a lot of fun! They rent out backpacks focusing on birds, plants, hugs, etc and they are filled with items to help explore those things. Super fun idea. My son and I tried the bird watching one. We listened to the bird sounds on the book and used the binoculars to check them out.

We absolutely love this park! Put some sunscreen and bug spray on and enjoy a day of play. It's unlike any other park I've found and it's so wonderful to get the kids out and watch them interact with the different stations.

Always a beautiful hike to the east mud banks off the creek. I love getting my feet in the mud, the bluffs are a site to see. Good for the soul.

I went with a stroller and 2 young kids. The paved trail was nice, easy, and not too long. There weren't many other people during the evening on a weekday. Good place for exercise.

This is an incredibly beautiful area. You can enjoy an easy hike through the wooded area, cross a bridge over the good-sized stream, and follow an ancient sanstone bluff up onto the prairie restoration field. Look at the wild flowers and listen to the numerous bird species.

Love bringing my little one here! He has a great time exploring, getting dirty, climbing, playing music and just being a little boy! This is a great place to be able to sit back and let him explore and discover. Bring bug spray!!!!

I attended this location with my son and his class on a field trip. I pride myself in knowing and taking my children to everyplace that they can enjoy in Rockford. That day I found out I had missed a spot. When we went it had snowed the night before. That added to the beauty of the hike we took. The staff was excellent and taught us all so much about animals and made it understandable for the kids. We had so much fun, I will definitely be going back.

I go on walks in this park all the time. It's a nice stop during the week. I'm happy that I live close by.

Absolutely fantastic place to relax and enjoy all the birds!!! The Nature Center provides food for our feathered friends so there's a lot of birds that call it home. There's a multitude of different birds there..Indigo Bunting, Goldfinches, Rose Breasted Grosbeaks, Orioles, Nuthatches, Eastern Phoebes, Flickers, Gnat catchers, White Crowned Sparrows, and so much more!!! There's also a really nice walking path and a natural play area for the kids; big and small 😉. They also host a lot of Milkweed so the Monarchs are super happy there. Can't say enough good about this beautiful place. ❤

Excellent on site programming from a dedicated and knowledgeable staff. Good walking trails, lovely scenery. Can't miss local spot!

It's a clean and beautiful park to go to. Really nice trails and not super busy.

The path is very well maintained and scenic. I went there with the intention of bird watching and wasn't disappointed. They have a nice amount of prairie land that I even spotted deer in.

Really well maintained hiking trail. We took the two mile hike and it was really nice.

Amazing. My kids and I played with nature in an unrestricted, creative way. I am so thankful for this nature center and we will definitely come back. I hope the following visitors enjoyed our massive wooden hut! 💜

What an awesome gem in Rockford. We had a blast with our four year old. The nature center and gift shop are really nice and educational. our daughter loved the Naturescape play area!

Walking trails that meander through woods, near streams and fields are fun! Play place for the kids was relaxing

Has miles of trails. And the staff is fantastic! Great walking to get in nature. Has a really nice paved trail as well for those with accessibility issues.

Twilight Tranquility Walk. It was a gr8 time in the park after hours. Greg did a wonderful job with this program.
