Shawnee Country Store

I really like to shop at Shawnee's. The Amish are so kind and friendly. They have a great selection of lunch meat and cheeses and good price. There is a variety of items to make anyone happy to shop there.

The food was excellent. We got 2 sandwiches from the deli. A roast beef and a salami one. This stop was worth the detour. They had one of the most delicious and fresh sandwiches we have ever had. Nice variety of candy and other sweets.

Discovered this store last year (2021) when visiting my mom in Chester. Had to stop again since we were back in the area this year ( Dec-2022). Nice people and great food items at reasonable prices. If this store was by my house in east Tennessee, I would go weekly.

We look forward to our trips to this store. The staff are very nice and the food is always great quality. Highly recommend

Recently I went with 3 friends for a girls trip. We stopped in your store and I was just amazed. Everything looked so good and very tempting. I bought some beautiful and delicious tomatoes, sauerkraut. I wanted to buy 2 of those mums in the containers in front of your store. However, the car was already full and no room to put them. I have never seen any mums as beautiful and big as the ones you have. If I'm in the area again I will definitely stop in.

The deli sandwiches are awesome. The young ladies are very sweet. I love my purchases! The bakery goods are phenomenal. ❤

9/25/2021, I came up from Atlanta, GA for a family reunion in Ava, IL.. My relative, Maida Carson took me there after I ate some of the green bean chips she had out for a snack. They were SO delicious I had to have some to take back to Atlanta, so she ran me up to the Shawnee Country Store. The staff there were so very pleasant, kind and helpful. My only regret is it's an awful long drive to come get more of that delicious snack! I wish they were in my area! But thank you for letting me sample a couple other things in your store, that was very sweet. I definitely bought more items than what I had originally planned. :-)

Freshest cut meats. I love it!

I really look forward to our trips here. German bologna & Onion cheese Cheese curds my favs. Then fresh baked goodies,candies,jams(spicy bacon jam is a must try for all),soup fixings, seasonings galore! So much here!

Ive never been disappointed. Premium lunch meats sliced to order, a wide variety of cheeses. (try them all) you can get a cheese tidbit variety container with your choice of smoked or spicy cheeses. I could go on all day about the reasons I love this place but please DO NOT take my word for it. You must go see for yourself and thank me later. Oh and when you think it doesn't get any better they add the best soft serve ice cream to the menu. Enjoy! We do ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very nice general store outside Ava IL. Owned and managed by several in the local Mennonite community. Good reputation for ice cream. Yes, homemade. I had a sandwich at the food counter at the back of the store. The bread was fabulous. The veggies came out of their garden and the portion of ham was generous. Worth the the drive. You can't see it from the road. But the Google map will take you there.

Best place for a great tasting cold cut sandwich with fresh ingredients soft homemade bread! Along with great tasting baked goods this store has a lil for everyone. Folks are friendly food is tasty!

I've always loved coming here, especially for the sweet Lebanon bologna. I live in St. Louis now but when I visit my family in Chester I try to come here and stock up on my favorite products. It's easy to end up spending a good amount, but it's definitely worth every penny.

Always a 5 star stop!!! If your in Southern Illinois, you will regret stopping in to the Shawnee Country Store! Great meats and cheeses, amish spice and soup mixes, dairy and fruits, heck you can even pick up lunch while your there. Awesome sandwiches!

Been going here since opened. Got to know lots of their family. Richard and Garold are owners. Know Richard’s dad Willard very fine people. Love there box store and fantastic meats and cheeses.

The place smells so good inside l got hunger pains soon as I walked in the door. Bought hot cheese, raspberry conserves and most delish raspberry fudge.

Extremely friendly, great quality. Their dried cantaloupe is amazing. All their meats and cheeses are high quality I couldn't recommend a better place.

Got some groceries that I'm excited to try! The deli is really good, nice and fresh. They're very nice here. :)

Wholesome foods; grains, spices, meats, cheeses, breads, and deli. All products are grown and made locally. The Amish folks are very pleasant, and grateful for your business. I recommend everyone treat themselves to a visit, even if you aren't local and may have to drive a bit.

I wish ALL stores could be as friendly and unique as this store. Great atmosphere and products like none other. I buy local as much as possible and you can't get anywhere more local then this place.
