Mizell Memorial Hospital

I have been a critical care nurse for 28 years, working mostly in level 1 trauma centers. I had to call an ambulance 5 days ago and my mom was taken to Mizell. I have been very impressed with her care….from ER to the Med floor. Her doctor, nurses, CNA’s, physical therapist and Respiratory therapist have been outstanding. Kind, caring and knowledgeable. I felt very good about her care! I would not hesitate to use Mizell again!!

My husband spent 8 days in Mizell Hospital before being transferred to Dothan. The staff was excellent and very caring. Lance, Dan, Jackie, Quinella, Jill (RT)Brett, housekeeping staff,Dr Davis (ER) Dr Crowe, and Dr Norman were all excellent. The food was very good and I appreciate the guest trays that were sent to me. That caring gesture meant alot.

Mom & I admitted my twin brother on Nov 11th after 2 months of bizarre behavior stemming from surgery ( anesthesia?). We could no longer care for him in his mental state. With an IQ of 75, it did not help that he previously had his gall bladder /blockage removed. 1 month later after being there, and he was stablized enough to come home, we could not have been more grateful. The staff, doctors & nurses on the 2nd floor worked their magic to help Brett get the proper meds & doses. This is a controlled environment who monitored and gave us the % of sleep, food, and liquid intake. We could also hear how wonderful they treated him throughout his stay. He is now an outpatient with Bridgeway here in the Okaloosa County area to tweak his meds and to work to get better. Drs not sure if there was a reaction to the anesthesia, the UTI infection, or if this whole situation will be temporary or permanent but that's where the outpatient hospital comes in. I will say that the hospital caught this infection where the 7 trips to the local ER did not. Thank you to the wonderful staff and I strongly recommend them.

I went with severe foot pain and swelling, they brought a wheelchair out to the car for me and took me right in. The staff was super nice and very professional. I was having some difficulty breathing and a minor panic attack and the doctor on call ran several test to confirm that everything was ok and he diagnosed me with gout. I am very thankful for the staff at this hospital. 10/10 for service.

First off shout out to the night time crew , I’ve came during the day once before and the experience was horrible .
They reacted very quickly to the emergency at hand , they kept a smile on their faces and had a wonderful level of professionalism.

This small hospital is amazing .I am a ER travel nurse I have worked at alot of different hospitals iI fell in love with this hospital about a year-and-a-half ago I have a lot of health problems and I needed a PICC line put in my arm for my medication .I called all over and this little hospital was quick to tell me that they were capable of put the PICC line in my arm immediately they have trained registered nurses that put in pic lines and they are amazing at what they do
Ever since then I don't go anywhere else if I need ER servics..Everyone is caring and nice and proffeional..They run a tight shp and it takes alo to impress me..

Well my visit was helpful on 7/13/21. But I called back and the nurse who answered the phone was rude and childish on the phone... Very non professional

Outstanding Hospitalists and nurses! The doctors and staff are so compassionate and kind! Hands down best in Covington County!

The Dr.act like they are there for a check there only three that act like the really care Dr.Laftner,Dr.Dr.Standfield,Dr.Davis and Dr.Mottdel

waiting time in the er is outrageous. first visit 6 plus hours . second visit 3 1/2 hours . maybe put more staff to work during peak times might help.

Had a horrible panic attack and went to the ER because I was seeing stars in my vision and I felt like I was going to pass out multiple times. It actually felt like I was dying. The admission time was very good (probably because it was really early in the morning). They drew some blood, ran some labs on it, told me I was fine, and sent me on my way. The nurses and assistants were super nice, very friendly, and very courteous, but the doctor seemed disinterested and apathetic. I would be willing to forgive that one thing if it weren't for the fact that I got smacked with a $800 bill. I was not informed that insurance would not cover the bill, and was not even given a good faith estimate. I don't even make $800 in a month! I cannot imagine how horrible it must be for those living on social security. Absolute scam like most American hospitals. Do not go if you do not have insurance that will cover and you don't wish to be financially crippled.

Well first of all they don't even have hand sanitizer in the room..which I find very odd with everything going on! And the nurse that stuck my baby three different times shouldn't even be working here. She literally pulled it out and couldn't do anything right. And the day nurse we have is very rude and wants to question me on something that is her fault because they couldn't do there job! Will not ever bring my child back here again!

I brought my fiancé here to be seen. The nurses and doctors are both very rude and have no bed side manners. As a CNA I know how a patient should be cared for and this is not the place to bring a loved one. I will be reporting this vist to the head person in charge.

I arrived on 08/26 and was left in the lobby for two hours. Five patients came after me but went ahead of me. They pulled me back to get vital signs and then moved me back to the lobby for another 30 minutes claiming that there wasn’t any rooms available🙄 I explained my situation to Dr. Motta and because of the LACK of good staff I requested to have the rapid COVID test. He denied it. I called after 3 days of when my results will come and they tell me that I have to wait for five days. I wait five and they don’t pick up. I left three voicemails and called some more. No one would tell me my results! Today I decided to go up there and demand my results and they lost them. That’s right😂 They lost my results and retested me. Everything is great. The results were negative but the fact that this joke for a hospital can’t even take responsibility for their own actions baffle me. It’s quite astonishing.

And to think🤔 I went to mizell to save on gas. I won’t be making that mistake again🤦🏽‍♀
