A wonderful dinning experience, my wife loved the seafood platter and my southern fried chicken & slaw was as good as my grandma's!! the key lime and pecan pies were the best we've ever had!! Our server Trafton was amazing, good job, we will dine there again

My husband has been a fan of this restaurant for decades. We had not been to Hatteras in about a decade and returned this week. The Quarterdeck was on our foodie list, we knew it was a gem that got overlooked by many tourists. When we arrived we saw the terrific remodel and updating of the interior. We chose a booth and were quickly met for drink orders. I got the bar special, a piña colada that was large and refreshing. My husband got the Hatteras style clam chowder, and I ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms as appetizers. The chowder is a broth based soup, with potatoes and clams, very unique and tasty. This rendition was a wee bit bland, unlike our memories. My mushrooms were fresh, full of crabmeat in a flavorful stuffing and the perfect starter. The entree menu is enormous but we had been craving the crab stuffed flounder since the last time we enjoyed it. I got the broiled rendition and hubby picked fried. They came with 2 sides, and we chose a salad bar trip as one. The salad bar has so many super fresh veggies, and a solid macaroni salad, with homemade dressings. Soon, our anticipated flounders arrived and we were both very pleased and satisfied. The fish is cooked perfectly, somehow while the stuffing is hot and savory. Portions are smaller than we recalled but I consider it a plus, it was plenty of food and no waste. We saved room for dessert, I chose the house made key lime pie, which had a perfect meringue, and excellent flavor. They also serve hot fudge cake, which was on the hubby's radar, he got that and the fudge sauce is the star. Service and atmosphere were on point, casual, with an incredible view of the sound. This was quite romantic at the time as the sun set outside the big picture window in back. This is not a big tourist destination, but it is a place the locals love and so much better than some of the tourist traps.

We were starving after a long day of sightseeing and skipping lunch. This restaurant was one of the few still open this time of year, so I’m sure they were booked up for later, but they provided a table for us. Wonderful friendly server, (who was covering the entire dining room) and absolutely delicious food. We did the seafood combo. Oysters, shrimp and fresh flounder ( not pictured). For a starter we had the crab stuffed mushrooms- SO good. Their hush puppies are also wonderful. And bonus- very good coffee! We’d definitely go back.

The best food on Hatteras Island. The seafood was perfectly prepared and the best hushpuppies ever. They have perfected handling of short staffing. Ordering at the register allows the lone server the ability to get food out as fast as it's prepared. The cashier/bartender was wearing many hats and helping with drink refills. I highly recommend, it is worth any wait.

I don't know if this review is appropriate but I have to leave it anyway. For many years I vacationed in Frisco North Carolina. I would bring my parents ,God rest their souls ,children and first wife yes that has changed haha. I am planning another trip, with the love of my life to Frisco. We never did like the carnival atmosphere and I still don't. I love the natural beauty of the outer banks. We didn't eat out a lot we bought fresh seafood off the dock and cooked it. And we would always go at least catch some speckled trout with Rick Scarborough, an island native and lifelong fisherman.I hope Rick is still around and still fishing. This place used to be ran by two brothers and they inherited it from their parents I believe. They were very friendly very entertaining one of them would always do magic tricks for my children which now are in their 30s. I hope they are still around and doing well. This is the only place that we would go out and eat at. I've never had anything less than a superb meal here. I mean these guys grew up catching preparing cooking and eating seafood they knew what they were doing! They had a great Hatteras style clam chowder and they had a oyster stew that was to die for lunch. The one dish that sticks out in my mind and I have been fantasizing about this for years, is this flounder stuffed with crab imperial I have traveled and lived all over the world I have never had anything like it. I hope this review finds this family well I hope to see them soon I am 57 years old and really not in good health I don't know how much longer I'll be around. I hope long enough to make it back to Frisco and to eat at The quarterdeck restaurant peace be with everyone.

We had an excellent experience earlier this summer (2019) at the Quarter Deck. The food was good but the service was amazing. Our server, Heather, was terrific. She was very friendly and engaging. We will definitely go back next year. Highly recommended!

I have eaten at this restaurant far too many times to count. The main quality I enjoy is that the food is the same good quality and is cooked "just right" every time! I recently took a group of folks for a business meeting/lunch, and I could not have been more pleased. The same Outstanding Seafood and topnotch service with a party of 12. The people in my party raved about how good the food was!

We had a fantastic takeout dinner tonight. Our generous platters of lightly breaded fried bluefish, savory/sweet hushpuppies, housemade coleslaw, and french fries were exactly what we wanted. The service was very quick and professional. It was also evident that they are taking safety precautions seriously. There appeared to be nice options for outdoor seating as well. We will be back again soon!

New Hatteras Island favorite!

In all my years of coming to Hatteras, I passed by the Quarterdeck hundreds of times but just never stopped. Well, that won't happen again. I ordered their broiled lump crabmeat with a side salad and fries. The crab was excellent, nicely presented, steaming hot, perfectly seasoned. Fries were fries. Salad bar has a nice selection of veggies and toppings, and the ranch dressing seemed homemade. I had to try the Key Lime pie, and it was good enough that I had no choice but to try the pecan pie as well. Both were... well, life altering. The Key Lime especially: burnt sugar on top of the fluffy meringue just took it over the top. I chatted with the owner, who makes all the desserts herself; she provided insight into the island perspective, and rounded out my already favorable opinion of the establishment and its staff. I never thought it could happen, but Quarterdeck just replaced my favorite eatery.

Beautiful views, so friendly, and everything we tried was incredibly delicious. Favorites were the crab stuffed mushrooms, fried scallops, the crab cake, the crab bisque, and the fried oysters. This is our favorite!

The QD is *the spot* on Hatteras! Everyone is so kind and the food is incredible. Really good vibes. Extra shoutout to the team for giving us a ride from Billy Mitchell airstrip so we could enjoy a meal here.

The key menu item here is the crab puff. The crab cakes are excellent, but the crab puff is even better.

If you're not familiar with crab puffs, it is a crab cake that is breaded and deep fried. They'll serve them baked rather than deep fried, but that would be missing the point.

If you've not figured it out yet, go here and order crab puffs. Get 2 of them. Fried. In May 2018 this will run you around $30 and worth every penny.

Now the down side. This is a small restaurant, and internally it is one big room. The acoustics are not great. It is a local hang out. Families frequent here. If a crying child is sufficient to still spoil your appetite then you'll be doing yourself and them a favor by ordering take out.

Delicious seafood!!! I had the blackened shrimp and hushpuppies. The Quarterdeck has great salads; not many other restaurants can say that. It was cool night in May, the Irish coffee hit the spot. Thank you. No photos from this visit; everything was gone before I thought about it.

Service was friendly and kept us happy. Food was excellent, and didn't take too long despite a crowd and being slightly under staffed. A good verity of options to choose from on the menu too.

Excellent hush puppies and authentic North Carolina barbecue. The pecan pie was also very good. The owner and waiting staff were pleasant and just made you want to smile with them! We will definitely be back as OBX is our favorite vacation destination.

If you haven't been here lately, you won't recognize it! It had been completely remodeled and is very nice with a great view. The food was great. The oysters were especially good and everyone enjoyed their meals. We will be going back
