The guy behind the counter was super cool and knowledgeable! I brought up a knit cap and he was like “that’s the wrong price on it” even though I was planning to pay that amount. He discounted it $6 and was like “will that work?”
That’s enough for me to tell this is a great place to get my fishing supplies!

A huge shout out to Travis at the Red Drum Tackle Shop! He "hooked" me up with an awesome surf rod and reel. Being my first bait casting reel, I had lots of questions and Travis had expert advice and answers. His patience with me was incredible, much needed and much appreciated.

This will be my go to tackle shop when at the Outer Banks. The store is clean, well stocked with most everything you could want for your fishing adventure, and to top it off, the staff ROCKS, too. Thank you Travis, Kitty, Jason, and Charlie!

As a side note, with my new rod and reel in hand, I hit the beach and had the best time I've ever had not catching a fish and practicing my cast without any mishaps 😅👍

We shopped there twice in 2 days with a group of teen age boys. Both times the workers went out of their way to explain how to catch the best fish and recommend the best bait. They also gave us information and links to learn more about catch limits and sizes.

Best place out of all the fishing / tackle store in the area. The staff was super helpful and spent time providing us with local fishing intel, their bait was fresh and they had all the rigs and lures needed to catch fish in the area. They also have free air for your tires I. The back which is super helpful when coming back from surf fishing in the area as there are none in the park. Thanks guys for turning us onto fish while we were visiting.

Me and my son stopped at a few tackle shops during our vacation! We then found Red Drum Tackle and needless to say won’t be going anywhere else! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful considering we are absolute beginners at surf fishing! Me and my son both built surf fishing rods and reels got them spooled with line and got all the rigs and bait we will need! We both would highly recommend Red Drum Tackle!

This is our top tackle shop to visit. This is a well stocked shop that carries everything you could possibly need for fishing. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Best tackle shop in Buxton and my 2nd favorite in the Outer Banks. There's plenty of items here for even the most discriminating fisherman and the staff is top notch through and through. Check them out!

Been shopping at the Red Drum for 40 plus years, always the same great people reasonable prices and a good start to any fishing trip.

This is a great place for fishing supplies. We wanted a rod rack that went into our hitch and didn’t want to spend a ton of money. They can through and we were off and running. Thank you again for amazing service and friendly staff.

If you are down for shark fishing. Better get you some sting ray if you won't big sharks. Red drum has all you need.

Nice place with plenty of equipment. Kinda pricey for me, but lots of nice stuff if you are more into fishing than me. Great folks working in store.

The people there are so great, happy and helpful. Made sure we had everything we needed. A great experience. Will always do business with them!

Awesome place great friendly staff and great service

Local guys, good advice, good service, fresh bait. Not overpriced. Got my reels spooled and tip fixed last time around, all done in minutes and well. Many stores around will sell bait but this one is the bait and tackle shop.

Every year when we get to Avon, I unload luggage and head straight to Red Drum. I stop in for ice and bait every day of my stay. Best shop I've been to on the coast (and the only one I go to now)! Very helpful, friendly staff willing to share info and tips. Very reasonable prices on everything from bait to rods/reels... and they ship! Good stock on whatever you may need. Couldn't find a rod I was looking for back home in Ohio. Thought of Red Drum so I called them up. They had the rod AND shipped it to my door.
I look forward to stopping back again next year! Hopefully I'll be picking up one of their custom heavers.
