AMAZING! My mom and I drove to Southport for a quick mother daughter get away and Captain Newtons Inn was the most perfect place to stay. Location is incredible and the house and rooms were extra cozy. Everyone we encountered were so kind. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. We will absolutely be back!

We had a wonderful stay at Captain Newton's Inn! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Gracie Room and loved the separate entrance and private balcony. The King bed was super comfortable and the portable AC unit worked beautifully. We loved the wine & cheese offering in the afternoon and the complimentary beverages available in the fridge. Our favorite part of our stay was the fantastic pool. Lisa and her team have taken such care to offer a beautiful pool space with many sitting areas, fans, and even floats you can use! The location is very convenient being a few minutes walk away from shopping and restaurants. A perfect spot for a weekend trip.

Our stay was wonderful! Lisa is an amazing host and the house is SO beautiful. We enjoyed our "babymoon" or last getaway as a family of two before our sweet little girl arrives. Everything is clean and the house is decorated very tasteful with lots of southern charm. We even had our maternity pictures done while staying and Lisa was so helpful. Also, the bed was amazing!! We will be back to stay again!

My wife and I just wrapped up our stay at Captian Newton's Inn, and we loved it. We celebrated our 7-year wedding anniversary in the Indian Oak Room, which was the perfect size. The king bed was lovely, and the sitting area with a TV off to the side gave us plenty of space to spread out. The location of this inn is why we picked it because you are within walking distance of 90% of everything you'd need in Southport. This was our first time at an actual B&B together, and the whole stay was great. Lisa and crew were great! Go ahead and book your stay.

Absolutely perfect! Southport is one of the most picturesque places we've visited, and our stay at Captain Newton's Inn was the icing on the cake. This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast, and we picked a great one! Lisa and Hugh couldn't have been nicer, the home and rooms are elegant and welcoming, and the breakfast and afternoon wine/cheese just delightful. We also enjoyed relaxing in the pool on a hot summer day and using the bikes to check out the lovely neighborhoods. Our hosts gave us great recommendations for meals, and we dined at Edgewater 122 and Fishy Fishy Cafe, both fantastic. We also really enjoyed the sightseeing water tour; my husband and I learned so much about Southport, got to see dolphins, and really loved the views and the refreshing breeze. Would also recommend the Fort Johnston Museum/Visitor Center; it's a great place to get an overview of the amazing history of Southport.

If you go to Southport, this is the place to stay. We stayed in the Indian Oak Suite. It was incredible. The pool area is so relaxing and the location is grande. They provide a breakfast along with wine, crackers and cheese from 5-6. If you’re lucky enough, you will meet the owners who I would list as “salt of the earth.” I just can’t stay anywhere else when I return to Southport.

My husband and I were visiting in celebration of our anniversary and pregnancy. We area already planning our next trip to Captain Newman's! The location is fantastic, walking distance to everything downtown (restaurants, shops, etc) and a short drive to/from the ferry to BHI. Our room, Gracie's Room, was so clean and cozy with everything we needed inside. Having our own private porch was perfect for enjoying the beautiful weather, just the two of us.

They've really thought of everything here to make your stay spectacular. Lisa provided complimentary wine, beer and cheese every afternoon. We had access all day to complimentary coffee, tea and water. Last but certainly not least, the breakfast is to die for! Alice set up the table every morning fit for a king. I loved seeing all of the china set out and actually being used! The food each morning was incredible, including fruit and yogurt, sausage, frittata, stuffed french toast, etc; all made fresh daily and plated beautifully.

We are already planning our next trip! We look forward to spending more time by the beautiful pool and waterfall next time, and enjoying the wine after the baby comes :)

My husband and I were looking for a quick get away weekend to Southport. Luckly, a room came available last minute. We stayed in Gracie's Room. It is beautifully decorated with it's own personal entrance and personal balcony with rockers. We felt connected with the other guest, yet we felt we had our own privacy. The Inn, although a historical home which is dated back to the 1800's, has been kept up well and modernized tastefully, while still embracing the Victorian charm of that era. The beds have therapeutic mattresses and the beddings are very comfortable and high-end. Very important. Each room comes with a mini frig for chilling wine, Waters and soda. We had a flat screen TV with a DVD player and a copy of the movie, Safe Haven (which was filmed in Southport). They also provided some pampletes and map of the area. (It is the little gestures that make a successful B&B) The breakfast was scrumptious and beautifully presented. In the evening we had complementary wine and a good selection of cheeses. You even have access to wine, beer and soda throughout your stay. Lisa and Hue are wonderful hostesses and very friendly. During our stay, we shared many laughs and hearty conversations. The Inn is located within walking distance to everything. We parked our car upon our arrival and never had to drive again until we were headed home. And, I can't forget Alice, one of the chefs. Her muffins are made from scratch and are simply delicious. You can not go wrong choosing this B&B. It is charming, cozy, comfortable and in the perfect location. You will fall in love with the rockers/swings on the porches. We will definitely be back and we have already booked a return visit for the summer.

The Innkeepers, Lisa and Hugh, offer generous hospitality in a lovely historic home. The inn is warm and inviting, complete with porches and a backyard pool for relaxing. I especially enjoyed the bicycles for sightseeing around the village. The inn is only a block from the Riverwalk, which allows for convenient access to beautiful sunrises and sunsets across the water. Restaurants, shopping, museums, and entertainment are just around the corner. A walking tour through the tree-lined historic neighborhoods gives a glimpse into what a quieter style of living can do for the soul. Lisa can recommend tips for site-seeing, shopping, and dining. All the special touches at the inn make this a destination spot worthy of experiencing again and again. Just lovely!

Beautiful B&B with a central location to the shops and restaurants of Southport. Loved the breakfast each morning. Plus, afternoon wine and cheese goes great on the porch.
