Bar Marilou

We went to many bars in the area this trip and Bar Marilou was hands-down the best. Their cocktails are very clearly custom made house recipes with top-notch ingredients — you won’t find these drinks anywhere else. We tried 5 different ones and were extremely happy with them all, and they were very reasonably priced too (it’s outside the tourist district). Very comfortable ambiance with a casual library vibe and lots of candles. The staff were also just as amazing, especially Hunter, and Megan made us a custom drink that was truly exceptional. I will definitely be back next time I’m in town!

Gorgeous setting. Gives a little bit of speak easy vibes. I love Maison Dela Luz anything but the decor was stunning and the drinks were delicious. I hade one that had tomato infused vodka and it was delicious. We ordered the crab claws and potatoes and the portion size was just enough. Wonderful for a date night.

Bar Marilou is not the kind of place you should show up without a reservation. We did so and we where very lucky and got to sit at the small bar in the entrance room. The bartender could not have been sweeter. He was funny and was all around amazing. He was perpetually ready with a great pun.

Both the drinks and food are top notch and this is worth your time in consideration.

This place has been on my list for years and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing, balancing comfort and class beautifully. The bookshelves lining the wall give a very inviting feel and inevitably leads to conversation among guests. While I'm no sommelier, the drinks were tasty and refreshing, On the pricier side, but worth every penny.

Now to the service. Anna went above and beyond to ensure a great experience and the other staff seemed happy and well treated. A server even gave us a tour of some of Bar Marilou's hidden gems (Ssshhhhh!). We celebrated a birthday and were surprised by with a complementary glass of Champaign. A small gesture that added a thoughtful and memorable touch.

To keep it simple, Bar Marilou is unique, interesting, and a must-visit for couples or small groups!

Loved the vibe in this cozy bar. Drinks were great and the private speakeasy room that you access from the hotel side was a fun perk. Service was prompt, only complaint was that my husband ordered 4 espresso martinis (for the group) not realizing that they have a La Luz Espresso Martini on the menu that is made with tequila and chile and he was really wanting just a normal espresso martini. Other than that we had a lovely experience.

Love this bar! If you're local or tourist, this is easily top 5 in the city. Posh and intimate setting for a date night or with friends. Cocktail menu is simple but good, and service is respectable. Will be back.

Best cocktails and mock-tails ever! The bartender was incredible and gave good recommendations on what to see.

No finer cocktail joint in the neighborhood could eclipse this high styled speakeasy. Lush interiors and beautiful crowd, plus the very finest staff who will charm you with intoxicants and satiating nibbles. You’re sure to find a buzz and maybe even some drama stumbling between the green tunnel getting in and the exit to the hotel on the other side of the wall. A quick step to the escapades at the Ace Hotel across the street too. Stay classy!

Phenomenal drinks in a unique atmosphere. Creative cocktails that exceeded expectations. And the old library theme made this a beautiful place to relax and feel immersed in the history of NOLA! Will definitely be back when I’m in NOLA again!

Beautiful atmosphere, stunning decor, and live music! Not too loud though, it was the perfect volume for conversation. Our server Anna was the best part of the night, however. She was so fast and considerate, and had the best recommendations! Great experience overall.

We loved this amazing coctail bar. Pro tip - it is on the side of building through an amazing ivy covered walkway. Once you walk through the ivy and enter the space you are immediately drawn into what could be best described as a French inspired lounge. The use of colors, materials, furniture, textures, and lighting all give the wonderful sense of being in a whole different and wonderful world. We sat at the bar and had a great conversation with the bartender who made us feel welcome and invited into the space. The drinks were as unique and wonderful as the atmosphere. You will enjoy having a cocktail here...we sure did and we cannot wait for our next trip to visit this place again.

One of the coolest bars I’ve ever been in. Definitely a hidden gem of the central business district. This bar is cozy and intimate and has a lot of sofa seating opposed to standard tables. If you’re looking for a drink with spice, I’d definitely recommend the Oaxacan with the Devil. It was on the pricier side of things, but because the experience was so unique I’d say it was worth it.

Incredible experience at Bar Marilou! Highly recommend. The ambience was great, the drinks spectacular but Hunter made the evening. Great personality and recommendations. We tried a variety of drinks and all were delicious, balanced and refreshing. If you're looking for a great experience, find this bar and ask for Hunter!

This is a cute cocktail bar attached to the hotel. It's not cheap, but the drinks are high end and the food is good.

MUST DO in NOLA. Beautiful bar! It's definitely a hidden gem. Very cool vibe. Drinks were amazing with service to match. We were greeted at the door and waitress was very attentive.

I loved this funky bar in the back of the Maison de la Luz Hotel. I had a very unusual martini type drink, lapin qui saint tout, gin, vodka, thyme liquor, and parsley oil. Very herbal. My companions had Let Them Ear Cake It smelled just like a birthday cake. They have nice bar food. The pumpkin tempura was light and crispy. The watermelon salad was delish, and they do a very nice burger with Bleu cheese, pickles, and onions.

Very funky decor goes with the very original craft cocktails.

It is located at 546 Carondelet Street. You entered through a greenery filled side alley.

Loved this bar!! Such a unique and fun atmosphere. Happy hour is 4-6 pm, they have some good specials. We tried the “bonal gentiane,” the “let them eat cake” and “the bungalow mystery.” All the drinks were great and the service was excellent. Would definitely come back.
