Outstanding walking/running/biking/riding trail. We logged several hundred miles on it throughout the past 3 years. The volunteers do a great job on the maintenance and the scenery varies on each leg of the trail. Lots of wildlife to see as well.

This trail is beautiful and it is long enough to show off the beauty of Kansas. This beautiful view normally hidden by farming developments and industrial zones.

Loved the FHNT. It is listed as 117 miles but only the first 5 miles between Herrington and Council Grove are passable. After Council Grove all mention of the Herrington leg gets omitted by the signage. Sadly, all that section needs is to be mowed. The trail itself is in decent shape. I tried to ride it but the weeds were too high to get through. Still, the trail as a whole is great
