Food was absolutely delicious! Prices were slightly expensive but great for a special treat. Service was friendly & quick! Only downside was the wait time very small seating area and incredibly busy! Definitely arrive early and be prepared to wait . Party of 3 waited 70 minutes at 11A.M in total.
Definitely worth the wait!

I was looking for a standard diner and was directed here by Google maps. Magpie's was an unexpected delight. This wasn't a hash slinging diner, this was cuisine. I asked my server to make a selection on my behalf and she made an excellent choice, (Bravas Tartine). The combination of flavors served on toasted sourdough was terrific! The potatoes had a special flavor not found at any place I've been to. There is an orange juicer on the counter that guarantees fresh OJ.
When that Norfolk & Southern train horn blew, I was off my seat! No one else moved, but I was ready for action! Apparently, the locals know that Magpie's is sitting next to an active rail line. In fact, the trains run all through the town and the folks who live here are so accustomed to it that they don't even notice when a train rolls by. "Yeah, it's a train." So be ready for that if you come here. It didn't upset my lunch, I was just not ready for that.

Magpie's is worth it. Come here for breakfast or lunch.

Absolutely love this place! We came 3 consecutive weekends in a row. I love how they have it set up; check in- walk across the street to the shops, and wait for your table! The time passes by so quickly and your table is ready before you know it. The orange juice is phenomenal! Haven’t had anything from here that I didn’t absolutely love. Best part is walking into the adjoining bakery and getting a treat before leaving. Please try this restaurant! Photo is from the bakery!

Great food, ambience and very courteous staff. I missed taking the before pictures of the food, but the kids inhaled the food.

Will definitely return if we are in the area.

Great service, reasonable prices, so much light inside. It's very pretty. It's like if a 1950's diner, an auto body shop, and Chip and Joanna Gaines had a baby. It can get crowded, we were told we would have to wait for an hour for a party of 5 on a Saturday afternoon, but it actually ended up being 15 minutes. Constant flow of people. The coffee was wonderful! I got the Southern Poutine and it was perfect. A fried egg, with sausage gravy, and a lot of fried potatoes. Tender, creamy, and full of flavor with a hint of spice because of some red pepper flakes in the gravy. It could've fed two people, but I destroyed it because it was so hard to stop eating. Please eat here if you can get a seat!

We waited 30 minutes for a table, arrived at 9:15 AM, and the line was out the door. After that, we waited one hour for our food. The food was hot, and cooked very well. Server was very nice. We sat at the bar. Plan to be at this place for 1.5 hours . The cappuccino and mimosa was also very good . If I had time in the morning, I would come back and eat here again.

Too good! I need to come back and try more foods on their menu. It can loud during their busiest times. Food was delicious.

This is the cutest place! The service was fantastic, and the food is delicious.

The wait wasn't as long as I expected. If you have a longer wait, get a drink at SageBird Cider as you wait. You have 5 minutes to show up after you receive the text stating that your table is ready. However, you can watch the queue on your phone so you know how many parties are ahead of you.

Make sure to take some bakery items to go. Get there early before they're sold out.

Highly recommended. Menu has clean options, but really cool combinations of foods. Loved the brunch! Very busy. Lie the clean, rustic look.

Magpie Diner was terrific! The restaurant is very clean with plenty of seating inside and outside. The food was tasty and the service was top notch. I highly recommend the chorizo bowl and the Egg Sammie sandwich. We also ordered the espresso old fashioned and it was dynamite 🧨. Magpie is definitely a place we plan to visit again when visiting Harrisonburg.

Really wonderful place to go and get some food within the area. Went with my family and it was fairly cheap. Everyone is super nice. Place is super clean. Food was so tasty. They also have outside seating as well if you wish to sit outside on a nice day. Recommend all ages, even dogs or cats that are on a leash and willing to sit outside by the tables.

This is a busy place but it's so good. Love the food and vibe. We ordered the roast beef tartine and it was great. It was on the salty side though. We also ordered the egg and cheese biscuit and it was delicious. The short-stack pancakes were tasty. I will always come back. The pastry from the neighboring bakery is amazing.

Had the Chrorizo breakfast bowl, side of sausage, and orange juice. The food came out fairly quick, and it was delicious. Definitely recommend!
The orange juice was fresh, I could have had a gallon of it if I could.

Great atmosphere and great service. If you haven't made your way to this diner, then you need to fast!

BEST place ever!
Goodness my mouth waters just thinking about getting to eat there. We live in DC but have friends in the area and it’s a spot I always want to be sure and go to whenever we are in town! I love that the menu changes and my taste buds are always so happy with whatever I’m in the mood for

This is one of the most popular breakfast/brunch spots in all of Harrisonburg. The food is pretty good, but arrive early if you want to get a table or seat. On the weekends, I would recommend coming before the restaurant opens so you can get a good spot in line if you want to eat at that time.

We loved absolutely everything! Was told wait would be 75 minutes but only waited 40. We walked to the nearby park to pass the time and got a text when our spots were ready. The restaurant is so beautiful and inviting! Ambience is perfect. We sat the bar and service was great. The wait staff was attentive but did not hover at all. Food and cocktails were delicious! You could taste that every dish/drink was made with fresh ingredients. Each flavor complemented the next so you could tell that whoever created the dishes really put a lot of thought into their menu. We got the Turkish eggs, tomato toast, and split the peach french toast to finish. Perfect amount of food, not over-priced, and the flavors are unique and complementary. It was also really nice to have the owner behind the bar to answer questions. We really cannot wait to go back!!!

Great restaurant, sure absolutely. First though - the biscuits and gravy are too spicy. I took my dad here specifically to try those (it’s a family thing) and we tried for two separate occasions just to get in without a wait, succeeded by this strategy of arriving at 8:45 (15 min before opening on Saturday) and joining the already decently sized line. So, service is top notch from the hostess to the whole team (we had three different folks stop by including our main server), ambiance is great (redone garage white modern industrial style), food came out quick and yes was tasty. But man when they made that biscuits and gravy recipe someone must’ve been told to make it about two degrees hotter than even a spicy gravy, and I don’t believe gravy needs to be spicy at all, and if you do like it spicy, let me put the peppers in my own self. Dad likes spicy things, but I saw it was a bit of a slog for him, and not what I had wanted. It doesn’t say spicy on the menu either (it’s off to the side on the ala carte menu).

Just enjoyed a perfect lunch with hubby, daughter & granddaughter! Hubby said it was the best bacon & egg breakfast he’d ever had! Cooked to perfection! Granddaughter loved her bacon slices & fruit cup! Daughters green poutine was ideal! I requested a toasted bacon & tomato sandwich; best ever! Hope to be back soon to enjoy another delightful meal!
