Awsome people and place

After about three or four years, I’ve decided to leave Crosswalk. Not due to any disagreements or an incident or anything like that, but for my own personal reasons. It is an oddly wonderful place, a church filled with people that all poke fun at one another and still love each other. They hold one another up no matter what happens, even when times are tough. I’ve heard so many wonderful things that the people at Crosswalk have done for each other, and though I am leaving, it’s not for any bad reason, I’m doing it for the sake of making my life easier.

Of course, the church has it’s flaws, but every one does. If you can endure Keith’s seemingly endless off-topic discussions during service and the truly strange teens in the youth group (They’re not as bad as they seem, I promise), Crosswalk is a wonderful church to visit, you might just find your home in their welcoming community. I know for a fact that I will miss most of them.

Love the church-family..miss them

While I have not been to their church, I do visit their Facebook page. On their Facebook page, they promote the false doctrine that the congregation is to tithe their monetary income to the House of God. They use Malachi 3:10 to justify this teaching.

The teaching is wrong for the following reasons.

1. Malachi 3:7 says that God was calling for a return to His ordinances.
2. In Leviticus 27:30-33, God says His tithe is to be agricultural, not monetary.
3. In Numbers 18:21, God appointed the Levitic tribe in Canaan to be His Authorized Tithe Collection Representatives...not pastors in Gentile nations.
4. In Numbers 18:22, God said the children of Israel could not approach the Tabernacle (with their tithes)

In light of what God's ordinances say concerning tithes, and the fact that God was calling for a return to His ordinances in Malachi 3:7, it is wrong for Crosswalk, or any other religious institution, to use Malachi 3:10 to say that God requires monetary tithes. As a matter of fact, such a requirement cannot be found anywhere in the word of God.

2 Corinthians 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 Corinthians 4:2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
