Moontown Airport-3M5

Moontown is a beautiful little airfield and definitely my favorite airport I've been based at. The Fuel will be coming back soon, and with the renovations being done to the FBO I hope lots more folks drop in to visit this unique little airport. Uber and Lyft are also in the area and I've used them to ride to downtown.

An excellent grass runway begs for pilots. The loss of available fuel has diminished activity.

Moontown Airport (3M5), has a nostalgic aviation charm. The "locals" are very friendly and eager to share their love of flying. They are made up of veterans from all branches of service and their experience is truly amazing!

Best grass strip in Huntsville! Watch the calendar for the Experimental Aircraft Association Fly In! The Young Eagles will fly your kid around for free sometimes too.

Is Moontown airport still open and operating? No gas, and a locked FBO. NOTAM and sign on the door saying no gas until the State gives them an exemption from ground water testing around their 50+ year old gas storage tanks makes me think 3M5 isn't long for this world.... Why hanger your 100LL burner if you can't buy gas? Inquiring minds want to know...
