Metcalf Bottoms Picnic Pavilion

Great shaded place for a picnic in the summer and early fall. Fun place for river tubing in the summer or just sitting in the water to cool off. Several clean restroom facilities. Several options to pay for park pass by credit card.

Large capacity picnic area with a pavilion, lots of tables close to Little River, and flush toilets on a wide, slower section of stream.

We picnicked here as a family and loved it so much! Beautiful views of the water and incredible mushrooms. It was an easy walk from where we parked to where the picnic tables were and we had such a relaxing peaceful time here.

This is a great place to stop and have a picnic while visiting the Smokies! Lots of tables, and scenery is spectacular! I was hoping to trout fish the Little River right here, but there were lots of people swimming in the cold water. Next trip, I'll fish the hard to reach areas of the river. The drive to Metcalf along Little River Gorge Road is amazing!

Had a wonderful picnic in the park right by the river at Metcalf Bottoms picnic pavilion. They have good restroom facilities and a parking pass machine on site. All the spots have a picnic table and grill right there. The scenery is top notch and there's plenty of shade. You can fish or walk in the river. Several historical sites and trailheads to these sites start here or are nearby. I highly recommend Metcalf Bottoms to have a great picnic and make some family memories.

Wonderful picnic area! Make sure to take the trail past the picnic area along the river - it's so peaceful and beautiful 😍 (you do need a pass fyi - we didn't know this and got a warning)

Good place to picnic. Lots of parking even at mid day in June. Mostly shaded with access to the stream. Picnic tables are spread out around the loop, also mainly in the shade. A restroom is available.

Very clean and peaceful. We were treated to a view from a distance a coyote, and as we were leaving a shy bear. Made me wish I were camping instead of just visiting

Nice place to play in the water, picnic, etc. Where we played, water never got very deep. Some small "rapids' you could float with, or just play in the around between the 'rapids' in the calmer water. Rocky, water shoes or something is a must, can get slick! About 45 minutes from pigeon forge. We went 2x!

Nice, sprawling picnic area. There are a number of tables spread around. The pavilion itself is as you would expect, clean and accessible.

Well maintained except only one parking area was open and overflowing, and the other parking lot was closed ????

The Metcalf Trail had a new marker but it doesn't indicate how far the Old School or Old House is, and there's reminiscent of an old structure a few hundred yards up on the left with no marker ??

We never saw one bit of trash on the Trail unlike the pic nic area :(

The most trashy area we've encountered was The Great Smokey Mountains Railroad .... UUGGHH .... come on GSMR, take pride in it and clean it up !!

We live along the NC Coast and maintain a hundred mile section of the Mountains to Sea Trail and are constantly picking up trash too, so we know what a challenge it is but once its done, maintenance is easy.

Beautiful park. Many picknic tables and grills to use. Multiple bathrooms.

The best place I've been so far.. this is a great place for kids if you want to have a picnic they have grills and picnic tables and easy way down into the water great for kids good areas for them to swim great places to explore this is a beautiful place

One of my favorite spots. The kids love it and they have great picnic areas.

We had our Davis Family Reunion Picnic here...great water ..great fun..we cleaned up aftrr ourselves...had a great time cant wait til next year....

We had to stop here during our last visit due to the government shutdown and the Chimney Tops being closed. It was nice and clean. Beautiful area.

This place is amazing. I definitely recommend this as you can picnic, barbecue and just spend the day at the creek. Wonderful day.

The absolute best place to have a family cookout! My daughter and I go often. Get there early for a good spot!

Metcalf Bottoms is a fabulous place for picnicking and wading in the creek! They have grills at each picnic table too. There's restrooms and dumpsters. Although I read somewhere they take the dumpsters away in the winter.

It is a great view as long as you don't have little children or pets.
Because they will disappear over the cliff that is right there. And I don't mean a little over there, or over yonder. I mean turn around and you will fall for quite a distance. 🤣
My hands never left their side.
