This is a great spot to have a picnic by the river with picnic tables and benches. Male and female handicap restrooms. Lots of parking. There is a water raft put-in ramp to the Tuckasegee River mile 37.4. The park has a life jacket loaner program for kids. Dog walk with sanitation supplies.

Locust Creek Access Area is right off of old Cullowhee Road adjacent to the Tuckasegee River. The Access Area was built to offer public Access for small watercraft to the river.

The Access area has a large gravel parking lot, primitive public restrooms, river access and at beautiful walking/cycling bridge that spans the river. The bridge connects to the 1 mile bike path on the other side that is enjoyed by walkers, runners, cylcers and dog walkers.

I am from Eastern North Carolina close to the Atlantic Beach. I've been in the area for a two days and I caught a walleye. A small one but nevertheless a new species for me.

Nicely paved 1 mile walk, 2 miles to the end and back. It runs right along the river and is pretty much completely shaded.
