Morris Marina Ferry

Highly recommend Morris Marina. The new owners are really doing amazing things there and everyone is so friendly and helpful. They will also bring ice and drinks if needed. I definitely plan on using them again! Portsmouth Island is breathtaking.

Super impressed with the new owners of Morris Marina & Ferry Service. While I really liked the Morris family, with roots into the SF community - they did zero to upgrade. The Davis family, who owns the service to Cape Lookout now owns the Portsmouth service, they have painted the ferry, built and replace the landing on the shore side, putting in a walking pier, poured a ton of concrete pads, new structure for their office. Very impressive and I spoke with Captain Randy, lots are planned. Prices have gone up 30%. Shrug. They now will deliver ice, bait, whatever to Portsmouth if needed. They also have fresh water station and air up.

Just got back from a trip over to Portsmouth! We had a wonderful time! Such a relaxing island! The ferry was easy to book. We were able to easily find times that accommodated our travel schedule. The ferry staff were helpful, friendly and prompt about bringing over any additional supplies we needed! A great trip from start to finish! I can’t wait to see everything once the new owners have completed the work and upgrades to the marina! It’s looking good already!

Great ferry service over to Portsmouth Island. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time.

Staff is very friendly in loading and unloading off of the ferry. They were right on time for drop off and pick up to Portsmouth Island. Great service!

This ferry service was really professional the lady in the office was nice and captain and deck hand where great as well. We have taken lots of ferry but this one is the first one we have backed up on it was fine the deck hand tells you where to go so no big deal. The lady in the office explained how low to let sir out of our tires and where to go once on the island and where you can fill up with air at the ferry dock back. They seem like a good family business.

Just listen to Captain Rick when you're loading up and you'll be perfectly fine. It seems intimidating, but your vehicle will be perfectly intact. PI is awesome, just bring the bug spray.

Mack or what’s left of him as he stated to me is running one heck of a business!

I’m thankful at all he’s doing to run that ferry back and fourth all day to get his customers on to the island.

Mack is also working hard to keep” we the people “ able to fish and use the land that belongs to us free to use. I have so much respect for Mack. He spent 45 minutes talking with me and my two friends a few weeks ago after bringing us back off the island a day early.

He squeezed our old Land Cruisers on his boat because he’s custom driven. He reminded me of my grandfather whom I hold is high regard. Honestly I can wait to get back on the island but I’m also looking forward to seeing Mack again real soon.

I want to get over to Porstsmith to help clean up what others are trashing because they are lazy.

Mack, let me know when your able to get a group of us over so we can spend a day cleaning up what lazy disrespectful people are leaving behind “trash”

We want to keep it beautiful and open for all those who respect such lands. Mack that’s for all your doing to make this such a wonderful place to visit.

Very friendly and nice. Frozen bait and ice on site, along with some sweet treats (ice cream) we paid when we arrived and left earlie than schedule since everyone arrived early for our ferry time. My 11 year old son asked to see the captain driving and they were kind enough to let him up there. Such a great experience. We will be back !

Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Made our visit to the island memorable. Even my wife enjoyed it.

Used to go on Mr. Morris' private ferry with my 86 Vanagon Synchro to Portsmouth Island's Octa Structures. Seems a hurricane damaged them and the government won't repair them! Why?

My husband and I have been making an annual trip to Portsmouth island via the Morris Marina ferry for years now and have never been disappointed in their service! They are super nice and very accommodating and really no how to manipulate large vehicles onto the ferry for a beautiful ride over to the island. Reasonable prices, as well! And the restaurant serves delicious burgers! Definitely not to be missed on a visit to the outer Banks.

First off..do your research..you are going out to a island with no amenities and weather conditions no one can control. You tent will take a beating, you will eat sand in your food and there are no roads only trails ..the trails can be flooded with water...
this is man vs nature..and nature will win so be prepared. A truck, generator, food and shelter is what you need to bring. The ferry workers shouldn't have to tell you that or tell you they dont recommend campers..you should have done your research.

Never had a bad experience and love that this place is so amazing. Do your research before being ugly to these wonderful people. Ask questions if you need to! Kari and her husband are amazing and I recommend this to everyone! If you don't have anything nice to say, shut your pie hole! I love Portsmouth! Collecting Conchs and shells are amazing and my husband loves the fishing!

If you’re used to hand holding, made up experiences, this ain’t your place. But if you like it real, this place is as real as it gets. Had a lot of questions for the owners before my 17 yr. old son and I went over to the island. They answered them all and gave us great advice on fishing. Very neat marina with an awesome restaurant right there on the water. Ferry was on time and well run. Be ready when the Capn' says load em up- He doesn't screw around 🙂. Many, many Thanks from the Boys from Michigan for making our first trip to the East Coast an unforgettable one!

I didn’t know the owners before using their ferry service, but after I used it I highly recommend them. They were very flexible with us on changing dates due to work. They brought us ice everyday we were out on the island since their isn't any there. Great people overall.

Amazing people and place!! Our first trip was great (could have done without the green head flies) will definitely use these guys service again!! Thanks for getting us over and back safely! God's Scenery is just breath taking!!
