Such a fun experience, all in a beautifully modern facility. The state of Mississippi has an incredible history of developing famous entertainers. As they state in the museum, maybe it’s because we often times have nothing more to do other than sit on the front porch, play our guitar and dream of something more. We visited during the traveling Jim Henson exhibit. However, the standing Mississippi exhibit is worth the visit alone. Exhibits were all very interactive, containing some very cool, seemingly cutting edge technology (e.g. the kitchen table area highlighting local chefs and flavors). These aspects make this a great visit for kids as well. Staff was very friendly and more than willing to engage regarding local history. This is a visit every Mississippian should make, and well worth the time for any out of state visitor wanting to learn more about an often misunderstood part of our country.

Amazing museum! Super interactive, informative, and fun! I very much enjoyed my visit and encourage any who are in Meridian to stop and check it out. One of the most modern museums I have visited! Ample spots to sit and enjoy the ambiance of the museum. Suitable for a wide variety of ages too.

I absolutely love the Maxx! Not only are the displays amazing to look at, but the wealth of knowledge, the history that is offered, is astonishing in itself. The Terrace is also wonderful to walk out on, sit and relax, enjoy the cool breeze and share the moment with friends, family!

Opened in April 2018. Honors artists from all fields from Mississippi. Elvis, Faulkner, Grisham, Oprah, Morgan Freeman, BB King, Muddy Waters, and many more. Who knew Ms has so many world renowned artists. Great facility, lots to see and do. Plan on spending several hours to see it all!

It's a beautiful museum with something fun for all ages. The admission cost was affordable. I enjoy going to all kinds of events there. I feel proud when I see our amazing Mississippi artists. I look forward to seeing more from my favorite Mississippi artist, Big KRIT.

Stanley Wright, a volunteer, was knowledgeable and welcoming. This piece of MS history is a treasure not to be missed. Authors, actors, writers, sculptors, dancers, culinary experts, musicians, singers, playwrights and every form of creativity is celebrated. So much to be learned appreciated.

Wonderful museum! The building itself is a beautiful addition to downtown Meridian. The exhibits are interesting and interactive. Easy to become fully immersed and lose track of time. I spent hours touring! Definitely tour while the Jim Henson exhibit is in town until May!

Passing through and wanted something for my kids to do. They had a blast! Lots of interactive exhibits. The lady at the front desk even wrote down attractions for us to check out while we were in the area. I wish I had gotten her name, she was so sweet.

One of the best museums I have ever been too and I live in DC where we have a few museums. The best use of technology to tell stories I have seen. This is what an interactive museum is supposed to be. Good for all ages and does an amazing job of exploring the contributions of Mississippians to the arts. I wish they had some posters of some of the exhibits like the music influences wall.

This was an amazing experience. I am going back next month when my sister comes to visit. I enjoyed the exhibit in the changing gallery. The exhibit was sculptures of various Mississippians that were scuplted by a blind woman. This is a great place to take young children so they can learn more about the history and people of Mississippi.

We got to tour the MAX for free as part of a business trip. The main attraction at the time was a traveling Jim Henson exhibit, which was cool, but really the permanent exhibit based on famous Mississippi artists and personalities was the most impressive. We were kind of pressed for time, so we only spent about an hour here, but i think you could easily spend an afternoon really taking everything in. The exhibit was not huge, but larger than I initially thought, and I think the ticket price at $14 for admission is definitely reasonable. I would highly recommend.

My daughter was married 9/17/22 and held the reception at the MAX. It was an absolute beautiful venue. Ethan was super easy to work with, works extremely well with the other vendors and everything ran perfectly. Highly recommend.

I just saw the Tennessee Williams paintings—obviously knew of his plays, but had no idea he was also a painter. Fantastic and informational exhibit! So glad to have quality shows available locally. Given the first Saturday discount tickets, it's even more feasible to give kids world-class exposure to the arts.

A really great experience. Employees are very courteous & respectful. They know the layout & displays throughout the MAX and share their enthusiasm with us visitors. My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and so did my 16 year old granddaughter from California. Put it on your bucket list.
