Meridian Museum of Art

The museum is located in a lovely antebellum 2-story building downtown. Admission is free. Self-guided tour. An array of exhibits from watercolors to metal art created from artists in and around Mississippi, as well as other parts of this great land. Also, take time to stop and view the artwork on the carousel 🎠 around the city.

This is such a nice local find! Interesting art to view and best of all it was free! The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Bathrooms were nice and clean! I love that they have classes and we got to view some of the artwork of the students who all created unique designs. Definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area.

I love being in cultural surroundings and found so much local talent at the MMA! It was enlightening and entertaining for my 8 y/o grandaughter and I.

A real jewel for a town that size of Meridian and even much larger cities. It supports this regions art community and fosters great programs for the children in this area Insuring a strong and vibrant continuing arts community for our future. Well worth a visit.

Great art classes for kids!

This Meridian institution has created so many meaningful memories and inspiring me since childhood to think creatively and explore different perspectives.
I first visited the Meridian Museum of Art when I was in the second grade at Northeast Elementary School. Listening to the museum’s director discuss possibilities and potential found through visually creative exploration and narrative.
Use of color, composition, juxtaposition, contrast, and associated freedom to challenge existing boundaries helped develop my critical thinking skills and analysis at a young age.
I highly recommend taking children to the downtown treasure.
Further, MMA executive director Kate Cherry continues to find challenging, engaging, and assessable works across mediums to interest people of all ages. Recently renovated, the museum gifts me with new thoughts and a wider perspective each time I visit.
I also highly recommend attending any programming or event scheduled at the museum, from an artist’s discussion as part of an exhibit opening or live music performed. Among my favorite performing musicians are Terry Cherry and the Museum Preservation Band. Terry Cherry, himself a local treasure and husband to the museum executive director, has a creative spirit that transcends a singular museum. His creativity manifests into song lyrics, music, watercolor paintings, meaningful conversation and more.
In short, visit the Meridian Museum of Art and engage with artwork displayed and the remarkable people associated with the facility.

Great, diverse displays

A small museum with rotating local artwork. All different mediums represented here and interesting techniques. If you are lucky enough to get a private tour, you will be back again and again and....

Great little "museum that could"! New exhibitions regularly, free admission, a juried art competition each year, and art classes for children. Also open for hosting events for charities, weddings, etc.

Very beautiful and positive environment...wish everyone could experience it!!!

A treasure in downtown Meridian, great exhibits and a wonderful children's program that encourages the arts from an early age.
