Merry Pier

Took my niece and nephew to Merry Pier yesterday morning, rented 3 fishing poles and got a few buckets of live shrimp and caught 32 fish in 2 hours, which included 4 different species. Nothing too big to brag about, but the kids had a great time. We even had a hungry pelican come over scrounging for a free meal and we obliged him. The pier didn't have a large crowd so there was ample room to fish. The gentleman in the store was really friendly and provided us with a few tips on how to fish using the live shrimp. Over all, a wonderful experience. Will return again.

Shell island tour did an excellent job ferrying our group to comb for shells. We spotted dolphins along the way and the captain stopped and circled boat around for us to enjoy. We had a toddler in our group and the crew were very accommodating.

This is a great little place! We were unable to get here before 4:30, and the shop closes at 5:30. They got us a pole and bait to rent for that hour, and were kind and helpful about doing that so close to their closing time. We were visiting from out of town and this was the only opportunity for fishing, so we were extremely grateful. We didn't see an end time on the website, or we might not have tried to get here in the first place. But I'm glad we made the trek (1 1/2 hours). The last boat had also just came in, and they were getting the caught fish ready for the people who caught them. That was well organized and fun to watch. They feed the left over fish parts to the eagerly awaiting pelicans, I'm sharing a video. So fun, less waste and happy pelicans and people. Highly recommend this place if you want to fish and need to rent a pole, or can go out on the boat. Wonderful people work here! And they have a super nice dog too!

Cute little pier with benches to watch fishermen and look at the views. We waited here for our shuttle out to shell key. Inside you can book fishing tours, and they have snacks and drinks, a few souvenirs, and they sell from what I assume is a local crochet lady. I bought a squid and a clam.

They sell tickets for the Shell Key Shuttle here and the shop has snacks and drinks as well as fishing gear for rent and bait. All of the staff were very nice and it was a great day.

This was my second sunset tour with this group. Wonderful experience, great value, and can't beat the views. Our tour yesterday evening enjoyed seeing several dolphins in the bay, as well. Captains were both professional and kind.

My Husband and I love the Merry Pier. We take the shuttle out to Shell Key every year we go to Madeira Beach! The staff are friendly and informative about the shells, wild life and marine life.

Great Day 8hours lots of fish Super group of people this trip. Captain Randy should run for Mayor. Just a really really Wonderful day on the Gulf. Cute little gift shop. Found the perfect gifts for the family while on vacation. Postcards are 4 for a $1.00. Long sleeve pass-a-grille shirts and hand knitted crafts from a local artist. Fishing gear and snacks also available for sale.

Great place to use the bathroom before getting on the Shell Key shuttle. Great prices in the store. Got a leather bracelet for $3. Had a little of everything for sale.

Go rent a rod, or buy a snack and meet a gem of a local spot.

Drove from Oklahoma on our honeymoon in October 2020 and probably one of my favorite places we stopped. Definitely worth the trip, especially if you go on the shell key shuttle.

It's just as good as Key West.

This was a very quaint pier! I loved the small bait shop on the pier. We hopped on the Shell Key ferry at the pier, then spent 2 hours at the Key. We will always remember our trip to the Merry Pier… on our return ferry trip from the island we boated straight through a thunderstorm with lightning flashing around us!! And the rain washed away any sand that we had stuck on us!!

Nice little fishing pier with a bait shop attached. Was happy to see they had some shrimps to buy for some cheap entertainment. Got into some sheepshead and puffer fish which was fun but thought I was going to die from the poison pufferfish.

Nothing like a quick check on your mortality 5/5.

Cute, short pier. Everyone was wonderful and the excursion was awesome. We even saw dolphins on our way back.

Loved chatting with Colleen , she made checking a hoot & a breeze! Can’t wait to get on the shuttle to Shell Key!!

The owner is super we fished for 2 hours and gave some shrimp to other fishers
Only sad thing is the birds like to jump for the fish so be careful or it will be fish on your hook
