Loften High School has the Best Firefighter and EMS/EMT Courses in the state of Florida. It has a real burn building made of 4+ conex boxes whereby simulating a real building that students at the age of 18 in their Senior year can participate in live burns within the structure. There are safety measures taken such as a sprinkler system throughout the structure and multiple access points in case of an emergency. Now for students under 18 in the program a "fog machine" is used in the structure so that they can practice safely without the hazard of real fire and smoke. Each student is also supplied with a real regulation set of firefighter bunker gear and an (S.C.B.A.) Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, to simulate real life situations and to prepare them for the carrier field as much as possible when they graduate from high school so that they can literally get a job right after they graduate as a Certified Firefighter and EMS/EMT personnel.
