Sonny's BBQ

Whenever we are in Florida, or anywhere else they have them, we always seek out a Sonny’s Barbecue. The service is always good, quick and courteous. I enjoy all of their barbecue and the portions are normally large enough to split. Quick, clean and delicious. Always a good place for us to stop.

Upon entering Sonny’s, the atmosphere was very greeting. From the hospitality to the smell of the delicious food cooking. The energy is unmatched. We began ordering the appetizers, which we got the BBQ Pork Egg rolls and they were an absolute 10/10. The coleslaw in them was a perfect touch combined with the dipping sauce. We ordered the Sonny’s Sampler platter as our main course and were astounded. The meat was so tender and falling off the bone. Perfectly cooked. The sides were great too. Definitely a 10/10 experience. Our waitress Waninne was awesome and provided us great service! Amazing experience every time we eat here.

Omgooshh I haven't had BBQ since I went to Texas, and I have to say this BBQ was even better then there! Wow!!! The loaded tator tots were amazing too! Great Service ! Great Food!

The food was great, fresh and quick! ( Note: please remember they are so good they are very busy on the weekends so please plan for that, everybody wants some!) wonderful atmosphere and music just right and air temp, very nice. So bring the family and you will enjoy….they aim to please, not sure on something, please ask and enjoy…..we did!

The young folks at this location are SO pleasant and personable. Service is top notch, food is awesome, and as always, you know you're at Sonny's. I've enjoyed their BBQ since 1984, and hope to do so for another 40 years.

That y'all responded to my review on the same day i posted it speaks for itself. Sonny's is great BBQ, period. THIS particular Sonny's is managed and staffed by excellent folks, in addition to having great BBQ! The review left by JD not long ago, about their experience with Jamie, left me a tad verklempt🥹. Having had Jamie as our server, i completely agree with JD.

Can't get enough of this place. Best pulled pork ribs baked beans an sweet tea on the map. If you haven't ate at sonny's BBQ ever or even in just a while, CHANGE YOUR LIFE MAN. this place is family friendly and ready to serve you. Take out or dine in. Oh and they cater!?! Yeah that part! If you cant cook or at least not for that many guests Sonny's BBQ has your back. And it'll be delicious

Update: we stopped here again during our visit and eat indoors. We had another great visit. We ordered a variety of meals and all of them were very delicious and the staff was very attentive.

We stopped here to pick up an order of ribs for a family member who's in a nursing facility and had a craving for Sonny's BBQ ribs.

I ordered from the pickup station. They had a large menu selection of drinks and food. The staff was nice and friendly and the restaurant appeared clean with a great atmosphere.

They have indoor and outdoor seating. We hope to stop in on our next visit to Gainesville.

We have had a lot of bad experiences but tonight we stopped at Sonny's on Archer road. Our child is special needs and Amber was super awesome with him. It is the first time he has smiled in weeks! The food was good but thank God for good service!

We were on a long road trip, had eaten fancy hotel food for days. (It was good.) I spotted the BBQ sign, and my daughter said, "Let's go!" It was a little early for us to eat. We weren't that hungry. We got our food, and it was so incredible, we ate every bite! Soooo good! Friendly people! So glad we stopped! Didn't have to stop again for a long time! And a good price!

Our school’s coach bus stopped by the chick fil a across the street from this Sonny’s. We left the group to head over to Sonny’s because we were craving some smoked turkey big deals. The staff was so nice and I explained we only had like 15 minutes while the group picked up the chick fil an order. These guys put together our meals and had us on our way in under 10 minutes. Hot and fresh, delicious smoked turkey beats chicken nuggets any day!!

Our waiter, Sam was very polite and helpful! Went out of his way multiple times to make sure we were happy and checked back with us often. Excellent food and will definitely be back again

The food was great as always, I do wish that they would turn the radio down because I could hardly hear. My hearing has been bad ever since the accident but Ashly was amazing and patient with me. I have horrible anxiety and she recognized that immediately. I absolutely believe that this woman is an angel and a credit to the restaurant that she serves!

Everyone loves Sonny's it is a Gainesville institution. I have eaten their excellent BBQ for 40 years. Things have only gotten better since I first posted this review. The pork sandwich is to die for with the sweet sauce. Be sure to ask for server Janinne, who is always attentive and with the best recommendations.

Embraced by the warmth of fleeting voices and welcoming assistance. As a nostalgic flavor reaches into my stomach. Grasping for the time I could come so close to perfection, as they do here. Will I ever know a time or place where I could come so near? Thoughts reach me to the farthest ends. Appreciation in all its greatest value, as it should when bittersweetness enters as I leave the threshold.

Had an existential crisis. 10/10

Delicious grilled chicken sandwich with cheddar cheese and bacon on the Texas toast. A wonderful salad. Awesome. Even the fries were crinkle. Cut hot delicious everything here was really really impressive all for $19. Great value great service great food highly recommend… Casie did a great job as my server. Sam was very attentive to all of our needs. Food was great! We traveled from Tennessee just to get our Sonny’s fix! Javon was also great! Thanks for a great experience.

This was my second time at the Sonny’s and I truly enjoyed it. Great food and service. I highly recommend the family feast that easily feeds 3-4 people. Our host Bryan was really nice as well and overall we had a great time. I hope that they also make a more spicy sauce soon :)

We've eaten at Sonny's from all over. Our favorite has been the one in Tallahassee on I-10 exit 199. Today we ate at this one in Gainesville. Wow. Sliced pork with no fat. Fries done right. Beans with a lot of pork pieces and the waitress slipped an extra garlic bread on the plate cuz I asked nicely (her words). This was great! Thank you...

I have been to this restaurant for three times. It has tasty food with decent price. The waiters/waitresses are so nice and kind.

My only complaint is for some seats the lighting is horribly dim, making reading the menu more difficult.

Right as I pulled in the parking lot my front tire went flat, the door was so heavy that I pulled a muscle coming in. All I wanted was someone to smile and tell me that it would be ok. Then came Jamie. I ordered my food and she saw me struggle to get up to head to the bathroom because of my torn ligament. She was able to help me to my feet and noticed the despair in my voice, Jamie just looked me in the eye and said "sir, you are among friends here at Sonny's" it was the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me. I know it doesn't seem like much to most but I feel alive again. Thank you Jamie!
