Chef's Drive-In

We went there for breakfast, and boy, do they make a great breakfast! Everything was cooked perfectly, exactly how we like it. The biscuits are huge and tasty, and it's worth trying a milkshake. Best one I've had in a long time.

LG. $5 milk shake the best I ever had in my life!! I GOT THE STRAWBERRY 🍓 CHEESE CAKE SHAKE!! YUMMY!

Cheese burgers not so great, they tasted like they were cooked in the oven, no flavor at all and were Luke warm.
Not sure if there's a filler in the meat but me and my husband are still full from yesterday's lunch, and our tummys hurt.

Cool little diner with great food and friendly service. Husband got the turkey club sandwich. It was so loaded, he had a hard time getting that first bite. Fries were hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Outstanding shakes!

Was quite packed at lunchtime, but the food was delicious and fresh!! Vernon was cooking up a storm, and it was worth the wait!😊

It's been 5 years since I've eaten at Chef's. We were in and out of Altavista for the weekend. We had 3 meals. Breakfast, burgers, hot dogs, onion rings and good fellowship. I highly suggest a fix at Chef's!!

Best breakfast in altavista. Friendly staff. Not sure about an ATM. I highly recommend this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Good fun in tiny Altavista... I visited this town during Christmas 2022 and had a fine time at Chef's. The joint knows how to cook a burger! Retro vibe, great sign, right on Main Street.

The food here is always good. I've ordered the chuckwagon, hotdogs and chicken filet sandwich many times and each time it was very good. I do recommend.

Fun experience! I loved the old school style with chrome counters, bar stools, and small town banter between the customers and waiters. They have a lot of great sandwiches, fries, onion rings, and they even have that crushed ice that I love so much! Can't wait to go back when it's a bit warmer out for a milkshake to cool off with

The food was outstanding and the service was great. The clientele were also exceptionally sweet people who had a long history of going there. Definitely a place to revisit time and time again!

The exterior is not impressive. I wasn't even sure the restuarant was open for business the first time I saw it. However, the first time I ate there, I was thoroughly impressed. It was seriously as good as any of my Granny's Southern breakfasts, but it was even better because I didn't have to wash the dishes! The staff was friendly and efficient and the prices were reasonable. If you happen to make it over to Altavista, check out this little jewel!

Down-home country food, good staff, and a wonderful, historic feeling. The special sandwich (I cannot recall the name) with chicken, cheese, and a fried egg is delicious. Also -- the cinnamon peanut butter milkshake is absolutely to die for, and I don't do sweets or cold things much.
