The Pridwin Hotel & Cottages

We had a fabulous experience at the spectacular Pridwin Resort the weekend of April 28-30, 2023.
The accommodations were beautiful and top-notch.
The food was exceptional and delicious.
The staff was attentive and personable.
The bar had great drinks mixed by Gillian and Christopher.
It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be returning
soon.

Gorgeous property overlooking Crescent Beach. Modernized amenities with an 'old world' charm. Rooms are quiet and elegant with a very comfortable king size bed. The food is excellent and some of the most consistent on the island -- we didn't have a a single bad meal there. Drink/beverage service was well curated. The service is warm, friendly, and extremely attentive. Heated pool and tennis court with outdoor fire pits and a poolside bar. Live music on two of the nights there were a nice touch. We loved our stay so much that we decided to book another weekend in August.

Google says 3-stars but it’s far from it. This is probably one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. There’s phenomenal service to a degree where you almost feel like you’re at a 5-star resort. It falls *just* short but it blew our expectations away and I’d gladly return.

We stayed in a cottage which I highly recommend. That said, come with bug spray as Shelter Island is filled with mosquitos in the summer. I got approximately 40 mosquito bites during the stay but can’t blame the hotel for that. If anything maybe they can put a bug candle out back to make things easier to manage and an umbrella on the back porch would be a welcome addition.

They have kayaks and stand up paddle boards available whenever you want. There’s also pickle ball but we didn’t get to take advantage of it. The s’mores in the evening are a great touch.

We didn’t purchase the alcohol in the room but the pricing was incredibly reasonable and a perfect selection.

The only knocks are (1) the main restaurant is overpriced by a mile.

Two, I ordered two champagne glasses by the pool and each glass was $25 and it came out in a cup versus an actual champagne glass which is kinda ridiculous. Other than that I’d love to return!

For years, we have stayed at The Pridwin. This is our first visit since their renovation. Absolutely remarkable. If you're looking for a fully inclusive experience on Shelter Island, this is one of the few places that can offer it. Complete with pool and beach access.

The renovation is just perfect and whimsical. I felt like I was living in a Janet Hill painting.. Service and food were amazing and everything was so relaxing. Just enough to do there for the kids or a couple. Hannah, who was some sort of manager, was a standout but the rest of the staff was on their a-game too, even though they were young. Having been to the Pridwin before the reopening, we were very impressed.

Hectic Hamptons? No thanks! Take the 5-minute ferry to Shelter Island and recharge at The Pridwin Resort. Truly a FIVE STAR stay. Gorgeous 95-year old facility, on the waterfront/beach, totally renovated plus additions of charming cottages. Lots of activities for children and adults, beautifully landscaped, great food, and excellent staff (and the bus and chicken coop). Next door to The Pridwin you will find the Perlman Music Program music school. See the attached photos...

Nothing beats a great location with superior service. The staff is eager to offer anything at their disposal. The rooms are immaculate and all deserve a big thanks. We were sad to leave

Great property located in a prime spot on Shelter Island! Well-designed, comfortable hotel / restaurant with stunning views of Crescent Beach.

The service is what really sets this place apart. Staff made us feel very welcomed — very attentive, and even went as far to bring over s’mores ingredients when they noticed when we were sitting by one of the fire pits.

Looking forward to coming back for more visits both in the summer and during the off-season!

The Pridwin exceeded my expectations. The property is absolutely beautiful with water views. It offers lawn & deck seating, yet with a very private feel. The property offers lots of indoor places to just relax with friends or in a quiet corner. The staff blew me away, their attention to detail was impeccable. Food & drinks were wonderful. Nick, the maitre d' really enhanced our staff, he is wonderful (Rahal, our server, was also a gem). So nice to be treated like royalty. (LOL) Rooms were top notch with high end amenities (just a little small, but that's due to the historic nature of the building). Great escape to recharge. Hopefully next time we'll visit their spa as well. The island has some wonderful restaurants as well. Check them all out.

Lovely staff (so friendly!), beautiful decor … easy to ride bikes into “town”, close to Sunset beach, shuttle services to the ferries. We had a wonderful time, would high recommend ! We will definitely be back !

Thanks to GM Jackson for greeting us and the entire staff for making our stay great. We stayed in one of the many cottages they have on the property. The cottages where clean and modern.
The property itself has the old charm upgraded to modern times. Has a very relaxed feeling and you will want to walk the property and sit around the many benchs. Take in the great water views.

The pool service amenities where spot on. One service missing was a server to attend the pool guest. Would have like that with more choices of frozen drinks. It does have a beautiful bar with friendly servicle just steps away.

One other thought was coffee. We all love a ice coffee or tea. They should think of a cafe somewhere on the property as the town choices where not hot. One hotel we visited on the island had a cafe and was very good.

Dont freak out about the ferry ride. The service is great and waited no longer then 10 minutes and other times no wait at all.

We had a wonderful stay at the Pridwin this weekend. Everyone who worked there was so nice and so helpful and the property was beautiful. Great views from the deck and from the cottage we stayed in. We also had dinner at the Terrace restaurant and it was delicious. There are also bikes for use which we used often and the continental breakfast was above and beyond a usual continental breakfast. We will definitely be back!

The Predwin is top notch experience!  The Atmosphere is very chill and
extremely cool vibe.  The staff is extremely knowledge and know what
they are doing!    The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Definitely go see Ally at the pool bar.
The sunsets are truly exceptional

Everything was perfect ! There is no need to ever leave the property. There are so many different areas to enjoy...the porch with outdoor fireplace, our private porch overlooking the water, the front lawn, the pool bar, the round bar and the living room with cozy fireplace. We were 4 girlfriends and enjoyed every minute at The Pridwin. Breakfast was fantastic- much more than continental. We stayed at our beautiful breakfast table overlooking the water for hours chatting and siping tea. Dinner was delicious. The wait staff was courteous and patient.
Our White Oak Cottage was beyond stunning. It's more of a house than a cottage. Exceptional quality, huge bathrooms and very cool vibe.
The manager, Jack is incredible!!!! He immediately responded to every question and stopped by at breakfast and dinner to see if we needed anything. He texted us , unsolicited, on the morning of our departure that we were welcome to check out an hour or two late. Unheard of these days! The entire 2 day vacation was exceptional.
The owners obviously understand old fashioned hospitality. Can't wait to return.

The online pictures of the hotel is exactly what you will see when you go there, actually it is much better in person. Being on the water gives a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. We ate dinner in the restaurant each night and there was never a disappointing meal. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. We cannot wait to go back!

My wife and I celebrated our 10yr anniversary with a night away. 5 stars on every level. Amazing property, great renovation and relaxing atmosphere. Food and drinks were excellent and bed was super comfortable. Can’t wait to return.

I stayed at the Pridwin and truly enjoyed my experience there. The staff was by far the best part, especially the host Elena. Very pleasant and friendly. Highly recommend choosing this hotel for a stay on Shelter Island.

Another great place to stay. Red oak cottage beautiful. Bbque dinner and entertainment wonderful.

Just lovely. Great location, fantastic views, delicious food, comfy rooms, kind staff, perfect ambiance.

It doesn’t feel too small or too overwhelming and it’s easy to get around.

The dinner menu was inspired, we had to go back for more, try the s’mores!
