Great little coffee spot in Meijer. They need to expand their food menu a bit but the coffee was good and the staff very friendly. Will be back!

I was at this cafe this morning preparing for my shift. I am a student and before I was going into work, I was planning on taking care of some things in here. There was 3 customers in here and the employee who introduced herself as manager samantha approached me and told me that I needed to leave immdietly because I didn't buy anything. I told her I was an employee and that I needed to do some work before I go in. She said this area is reserved for employees for while they are on break but 2 minutes later she said employees weren't allowed in here without buying anything because of the policy the restaurant had. I walked over the counter after her demanding that I leave to apologize for whatever I did to upset her. She said that her manager, the owner of the store, Marco, did not allow people to stay here. I asked her if that was true and then she claimed I was harassing her. I took a step back and explained once again that my intention wasn't to make her feel upset and that I had done absolutely nothing to make her feel harassed. I told her that my shift started in two hours and that I just needed a place to work, after she told me that she had a manager I asked her to speak with him so that I could explain the same thing. She didn't let me speak with him, but the manager did let me stay. I went out for the cigarette to take breather from the altercation and when I came back in she asked me to take my things with me next time I walk away from my things because the store has a policy and because she didn't want to be responsible for any stolen items. I said "okay, next time I go out for a cigarette I will take all my things with me" I wasn't sure why she was being this way towards me so I said "Hey did you recieve any tips today?" which was my polite way of letting her know that she was being agressive and rude and that she was going to make her customers upset. She said " NO, I took them so that you wouldn't steal them" I said "really? You think I would steal your tips?" and she said "I don't know how I feel about you yet." I was appalled because I wasn't being rude so I just said "Okay. I hope you have a better day"
This person should not be working here. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day but she responded with a lot of aggression from the time she approached me to the time that she went back to work. I also don't know if she was being truthful with me and I wondered why she had a problem with me. I was full of disbelief by her comments and her response to something that wasn't a big deal. All I wanted to do was ask the person who was actually in charge if it was okay. I'm not sure if she really is the manager because of her behavior but she strook me as an employee. If I had responded this way to anyone at my previous jobs I would defenetly not work there for long, or I would be met with somekind of punishment.
I just wanted to give the real manager and the owner a heads up on how their employees are behaving when they're not around. I understand that she could be frustrated or having a bad day but that is no excuse to cause a scene with a person who is being polite and just wants to have a conversation with her boss. I wasn't saying no to her demands. I explained that, because I assumed she was listening to her bosses orders, I wanted to run it through her boss to see if it was okay, and if he said no then I would find a different place to work at. But she wanted to raise her voice and accuse me of harassing her and then proceed to make rude comments about me. and say things like "that's what libraries are for. Get out of my cafe!"
I just don't think that was an appropriate response and I was really just shocked because she's working by herself and this is how she's talking to people.
